Summer Sports Cricket I really love cricket! There are eleven players in a team. In England we only play it in the summer - when it's sunny! Cricket isn't just popular in England. People also play it in Australia, India, Pakistan and South Africa. Some people think it's boring. An international cricket match lasts ' for five days! My favourite team is the English national team.
Rugby My favourite sport is rugby. I love watching it and I enjoy playing it. I watch a rugby match every Saturday with my dad. My favourite team is the Welsh rugby union team. In Wales rugby's only a winter sport. The season lasts from September to April. There are fifteen players in a rugby team and a match only lasts for eighty minutes. It's a bit rough but I love it. Ice hockey Baseball I'm mad about baseball. It's our national sport. There are nine players in a team. I go to baseball matches with my mom. Lots of American families go to the ball games together. Sometimes a game lasts all day. There are thirty Major League baseball teams. My favourite team is the San Francisco Giants. Simone is from San Francisco in the USA.
I'm Canadian so I just love playing ice hockey. All Canadians really like ice hockey. My favourite team is the Ottawa Senators. There are six players in an ice-hockey team. They wear special clothes and helmets, but it's still quite a rough game. It's also very fast. In winter I often play ice hockey after school. Nicole is from Ottawa in Canada.

SSBSS
Young people need a balanced diet w i t h different sorts of healthy food. For example, they need carbohydrates f r o m bread, pasta and rice f o r energy. Fruit and vegetables are i m p o r t a n t too - they contain vitamins and minerals and these keep you healthy. Protein makes you strong and you get it f r o m t h i n g s like meat, fish and eggs. Dairy fat - f o r example, m i l k and cheese - is good because it makes your teeth strong. But remember too much fat is very unhealthy so fast food is bad for you - and it con ^ a lot of sugar which is also unhealthy.

My favourite band Writing tip Capital letters, commas, colons and semi-colons • We always start a new sentence with a capital letter and put a full stop at the end. He's in a band at school. • We use commas to divide items in a list. I like pop, reggae, soul and hip hop music. • We use a colon to introduce a list, an explanation or a quotation. There are two singers in the band: Charlie and Matt. • We use a semi-colon to separate different parts of a sentence about the same subject. McFly are a popular band; Green Day are popular too.
