First Term Oral work • Introducing phonetic sounds with various teaching aids. Long sounds followed by short sounds. Written work • Pattern writing – patterns will be given for the development of fine motor coordination • Introduction of letters- c, a, o, i, u, e. n, m Second Term Written work • Pattern writing – patterns will be given for the development of fine motor coordination • Writing of letters continued- v, w, r, s, x, I, b, t, h, k, d, j, g, y, z, p, q, f. • Pre synthesizing of sounds a) Keeping consonants constant b) Keeping vowels constant • Introducing writing of two letter words Oral work • Reading of three letter words • Introduction of Opposites
NUMBER WORK First Term Oral work • Introducing Pre Number concepts with concrete objects a) tall and short b) up and down c) big and small d) left and right e) high and low f) wide and narrow g) more and less h) one and many • Introduction and counting of numbers 1-10 • Introduction of shapes Written work • Tracing and writing of numbers from 1 to 5 Second Term Oral work • Introduction to counting numbers sequentially from 11 onwards • Relate values to numbers • Introduction to the concept of lesser than greater than and equal to through the crocodile game • Introduction of before and after numbers Written work • Tracing and writing of numbers from 6 to 9 • Introducing the concept of zero and 10 • Drawing values to numbers
