Dedication Without the brainstorming efforts of my darling husband, a self-proclaimed geek and avid sci fi fan, the world of Shifter’s Station might never have been developed. I owe him many, many special thanks.
Chapter 1 Marcus Devlin’s boots echoed in the empty corridor. Everyone but the skeleton crew in the command center was in bed, where he’d been with his lovers until an emergency summons dragged him away. He’d never put much stock in premonitions, but he had no other explanation for his certainty that this call was trouble of the worst kind. In the weeks since he’d killed Denis Ragland’s lackey, Marc had lived with a heavy feeling in his chest, one that said the fight with Ragland was far from over. Marc knew neither he nor his people would be safe until Ragland was dead. The man saw them as his only significant threat. Marc would do whatever was necessary to defend the men and women who ran his station. His crew had trusted him when the government they’d fought for had fucked them over and hung them out to dry. He took a deep breath as he pressed his palm to the keypad on his office door. Then, he used his wrist unit to signal the command center. “I’m available now. Route the call to my office.” “Yes, Captain Devlin.” Ragland’s face filled the screen. Marc’s stomach hardened into a knot at the sight of the man’s smug smile. Why the fuck did his premonition have to be right? “I just left a warm bed. You’d better make this interruption worth my while.” Marc used the authoritative voice that was known to scare even the most hardened crew member. Ragland frowned. “You’ve never been able to intimidate me. Don’t try now.” “Do you intend to make a point or is this a social call?” “I was feeling magnanimous, so I thought I’d give you a warning.”

Marc raised his brows and gave Ragland a look of contempt. His heart thundered in his chest, but his long years in the military had taught him how to mask all emotion. “I’m going to destroy you.” “And I thought I got out of bed for an important conversation.” Marc reached forward to shut off his unit. “I have a very special position picked out for myself in the Protectorate. I will not allow your principles to get in my way. I’m going to destroy your station. But first, I’m going to make sure you suffer by killing everyone you care about.” “Cut the melodrama, Ragland.” Ragland smiled. “I’m looking forward to seeing you again.” This time Marc did cut the communication. Then, he let his head drop into his hands and massaged his temples, trying to ease the throbbing in his head. At least he hadn’t given Ragland the satisfaction of seeing his fear. That was what the bastard wanted. That and the knowledge that Marc would be looking over his shoulder, knowing an attack was coming but not from where. “Fuck!” His people would have to waste valuable time and energy preparing for a full-scale defense even if Ragland was only sending an assassin. At least coolly making preparations was better than dwelling on the unsettled feeling in his stomach. If a threat like this had come from anyone else, he would brush it off. He had every confidence in his people’s ability to defend themselves. They’d beaten a team of highly trained Cerian fighters after all. But Ragland and the men who’d chosen to follow him when the shifter program dissolved were every bit as strong as Marc and his crew. They were equally matched, but unlike Marc, Ragland didn’t care who got hurt as long as he got what he wanted. Marc contemplated sending Kirlos and Larissa down to Abrigana until the threat passed. The thought of harm coming to them made his chest tighten until he could barely breathe. But he knew they’d never agree to go. And while he had a fierce need to protect them, his need to have them close by was even stronger. They humanized him

like no one else could, and his humanity was the only thing that made him better than Ragland.
*** Larissa groaned as Kirlos sank deep into her. She wrapped her legs around his waist and tilted her hips to take him deeper. But the sound of the bedroom door sliding back penetrated the haze of pleasure that surrounded them. Shit! Devlin had returned. He’d told them both to lie still while he was gone. The thought of what he might do made her shiver with apprehension and wicked lust. Kirlos looked down at her. She mouthed “uh oh,” and he smiled. She held her breath, waiting for Devlin’s explosion, but he didn’t say a word. Kirlos pulled out of her and rolled over. Then she saw the captain. He’d sunk into the chair across from them and dropped his head into his hands. She and Kirlos sat up. She got off the bed and went to Devlin, kneeling beside him. “What’s wrong?” His back rose and fell as he took a long slow breath. She reached out to caress him, but he brushed her hand off and sat back. “I just talked to Ragland.” “What did he want?” “He’s planning to destroy us. We’re inconvenient to his plans for Protectorate domination.” Kirlos snorted. “If he comes here, he’s going to die. Then his whole movement will fall apart without him to lead it.” “As will ours without me.” Pain echoed in the captain’s voice. Larissa’s heart sped up as fear pumped through her body. She ran her hand over Devlin’s short hair. “You’re going to give the bastard exactly what he deserves.” Devlin snorted. “I’m certainly going to try my damnedest to. I want to live almost as much as I want Ragland dead.” Kirlos pushed back the covers and sat up. “I assume Ragland didn’t detail his plan for our annihilation.” Devlin shook his head.

“What did he say?” “He’s coming to destroy me, the station, and everyone I cared about.” “Any hints about when?” Kirlos kept his voice steady, but Larissa noted that his hands gripped the sheets so tightly his knuckles were white. She worried he’d rip the fabric. “That’s part of the fun for him. He not only wants me dead, he wants to know that I’m spending my days waiting for an attack. He’s a cat. He likes to play with his prey.” Larissa rubbed her hand in circles on Devlin’s back, wishing she could comfort him. “Do you think he’ll want to do the job himself?” The captain nodded. “Killing me would give him too much pleasure. He won’t leave it to anyone else.” “As if anyone else could carry it off -- he’s the only shifter whose strength of both body and mind matches yours.” “True. He won’t trust me to any of the others, but that doesn’t rule out his sending an assassin for you or” -- he turned toward Larissa -- “you. He may lead his squad of shifters and mercenaries and attack us all at once, or he may pick us off one by one.” Larissa’s heart slammed against her ribs. This was the first time she’d ever heard Devlin talk about a fight without being irritatingly arrogant about his chances of winning. And when he spoke, she heard the growling rumble in his voice. He wouldn’t be on the verge of changing if he wasn’t feeling powerful emotion. She studied Devlin’s hands and noticed they were shaking. When she looked into his eyes, they’d changed from dark amber to the golden color of his wolf, but she could see the fear in them. He looked away quickly, embarrassed by what he’d revealed. She’d never met Ragland. But after hearing Devlin, Kirlos, and other members of the station’s crew talk about him, she’d imagined someone with Devlin’s deadly strength, the training to be a focused killing machine, and absolutely no conscience.

Now that she’d seen what the prospect of Ragland’s attack did to Devlin, she feared that as bad as it was, her mental image wasn’t evil enough. Tension vibrated in the room until Kirlos cleared his throat. “How do we prepare to crush this bastard?” Devlin was silent for several seconds, but when he spoke, his voice was fully human again. “We double the numbers of men on patrol both inside and outside the station. But doing so will divert resources from shipping and inspection. Send a communication down to Abrigana and find out how many men they can send us for temporary work as loaders. We need a few Abrigan cargo pilots too. We’ll focus our own crew on our special clients and leave routine deliveries to those we can bring in.” “We should alert Donovan. Ragland will almost certainly refuel in his sector of space. With his tech skills and equipment, he can lock onto Ragland’s signal and alert us to his presence.” “Good. Do it. We’ll also see that Jeff has his pilots doing drills twice a day every day. Have him keep a squadron ready to fly out with a moment’s notice.” Larissa felt Devlin relax as he began issuing commands. By making him focus on something other than his fear, Kirlos had been able to comfort him in a way she never could with caresses. She wished she could get to know the man under Devlin’s tough exterior as well as Kirlos did, but the captain wouldn’t let her in. Devlin’s list of plans went on for several minutes before he wrapped up his discussion with Kirlos. “Page Claire or whoever’s supervising in command at this hour. Have them wake all the officers. I want everyone in the conference room in one hour.” Kirlos frowned. “Do they really need an hour? If we’re getting them out of bed, we might as well do this now.” “I need an hour.” Kirlos raised his brows. Devlin smiled for the first time since he’d returned. “I have no intention of leaving this room until I’ve reddened both your asses for defying me.” Larissa inhaled sharply as her fear receded and her body pulsed to life.
Chapter 2 “I want you at the side of the table.” Larissa didn’t move, unsure if Devlin were directing her or Kirlos. “Now. Both of you.” Larissa took a deep breath as she stepped up to the long side of the Cerian sex table. Anticipation zinged through her body. She’d expected a simple spanking but Devlin obviously had something more complex in mind. Whatever it was, it would ultimately be delicious but with his current mood, she knew he would work them both over thoroughly first. She glanced over her shoulder at him. Why did he have to look his finest when he was about to deal out pain? “Table, take their wrists and stretch them out.” Tentacles snaked out and captured Larissa’s wrists. They pulled her forward until her chest lay flat on the table. She raised her head enough to see Kirlos lying beside her in the same position. “Secure their ankles.” More tentacles slid over the side of the table and dangled down until they reached her feet. They wrapped her ankles to two of the numerous thin legs that supported the table. Devlin leaned forward and caressed her spine. “Ready?” She nodded and sucked in her breath. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw him take something out of the drawer at the end of the table. But before she could register what she saw, he cracked it against her ass. Lines of fire sizzled down her legs and up her spine. Gods of Earth, it was his most wicked crop. It had a large, soft leather loop at the end that delivered a fiendish sting. He caressed her other buttock with the tip. She tensed, waiting for the blow. She heard it snap but didn’t feel any pain. Then she realized he’d hit Kirlos. She opened her eyes and peeked at the Cerian, watching him as Devlin nailed his ass again and again.

Kirlos’s teeth sank deeply into his dark, red lips. His ribs expanded and contracted rapidly, but he didn’t make a sound. He loved to make Devlin work for the cries the captain wanted to hear. She was so mesmerized by Kirlos’s beauty that she failed to notice Devlin shifting his attention to her. His blow caught her by surprise, and she screamed. The sound echoed in the room. She forced herself to focus on the sound rather than the fire on her ass. Devlin kept the blows coming fast and hard. Finally, he stopped. Larissa floated, feeling lost and unaware until Devlin laid his hand on her back. “Deep breaths.” She obeyed without thought, pushing his hand up as she pulled air in until her lungs could take no more. Then, Devlin pushed his hand down, forcing her to exhale. “You’re mine, and I will protect you.” His voice had a haunted edge to it. She wanted to turn over and pull him into her arms. She longed for him to accept the comfort she wanted to give. But sending her to heights of sensation and pleasure was his way of working through his emotions. Pleasure rushed in to fill the void of sensation as her pain receded. She squirmed against the side of the table. Devlin slapped her sore ass with his palm. “Don’t move.” She fought for control as her body screamed for release. Devlin slipped two fingers inside her and pumped them in and out. She pushed back against him. Another slap with his hand. “I said don’t move.” He drew the nails of his other hand slowly, deliberately across her welted ass. She sucked in her breath and squeezed her eyes shut, fighting the pain. “Relax and breathe.” Devlin wiggled the fingers he’d kept inside her, curling them against her G-spot. She panted. How could she possibly relax if he expected her to stay still? “Table, wrap her hips.” A tentacle streamed out and circled her upper thighs right under her buttocks, pinning her to the side of the table. Devlin worked his fingers under it and started plundering her again.

She gasped as he flexed his fingers, filling and stretching her. As he kept driving in and out, she fought the growing wave of orgasm, knowing he would expect her to wait for permission. She heard the slap of the crop again, and her eyes flew open. Kirlos was looking at her as Devlin worked his ass again. His orange-yellow eyes were wide with lust and pain. She smiled and opened her mind to his gentle probe, wanting to let him feel how hot the sight of him made her. She swallowed hard as Devlin stroked her particularly hard and Kirlos licked his lips, riding the sensation of pleasure through her thoughts. Then Devlin slapped him so hard the crack made her jump. A small squeak escaped Kirlos and Devlin chuckled. “I won’t stop until you really scream. You know that’s the price of defying me.” Another hard crack. Kirlos jerked. He squeezed his eyes shut, and he left Larissa’s mind, unable to hold the connection and fight his need to scream. Devlin hit Kirlos again in the exact same spot. A drop of blood slipped from Kirlos’s lip where he’d bit himself to keep control. Larissa gasped. The sight of him struggling to take what Devlin gave him was achingly beautiful. Her body kicked even closer to orgasm as she watched the two men locked in a struggle with each other. Devlin slapped her ass hard enough to make her gasp. “Don’t you dare come.” A low whine escaped her. She didn’t understand how Kirlos could be so controlled. Devlin could get to her without even trying. Devlin twisted his fingers inside her, deliberately baiting her to defy him. Sweat soaked the table under her chest from her efforts to fight her need. Devlin stroked her again, and she thought she was going to lose her battle to obey. But then he pulled out quickly and tossed the crop onto a chair, pulling something else from his torture drawer. She heard the single tail unfurl and squeezed her eyes shut. She’d seen him use the whip on Kirlos a few weeks ago. Would he use it on her, too? Kirlos broke after five fast strokes of the whip. His cry ran through Larissa as if he were touching her inside. Devlin hit him one more time and then leaned over and

ran his tongue along the Cerian’s spine. “Beautiful as always.” Kirlos panted and said nothing. Devlin dangled the tip of the whip, letting it tickle Larissa’s back and ass. “How many can you take?” Larissa’s heart pounded. If she said “none” she knew he’d let her go. He’d never pushed her to take more than she wanted. But she did want it. As much as her ass stung, she wanted to sink even deeper into the sexual trance Devlin had woven around the three of them. “Three.” Her voice was low and husky, not like herself at all. Devlin stroked her back with his hand. “I’m very pleased.” “Table, untie Kirlos’s left hand and Larissa’s right.” He slapped Kirlos’s ass lightly with his hand. “Help her take what she’s agreed to.” Kirlos gripped her hand tightly in his. “Look at me.” His words were broken by his panting breaths, and his face and neck were damp with sweat. The intensity of need in his eyes paralyzed her. She wanted both to soothe him and to feel what he was feeling. She released all her defenses and let him into her mind. She watched his eyes widen as he felt her lust. The whip came down. She screamed but managed to hold still, letting Kirlos be her lifeline. He projected calm and coolness into her mind. Yet, she felt the edge of his pain which only served to fuel her need. Devlin hit her again. She made a strangled sound this time, trying to hold back like Kirlos did. Stop fighting. Let it out. Kirlos spoke directly into her mind. “But --” “Scream for me, Larissa.” Devlin’s tone brooked no disobedience. When the last blow came, she screamed long and loud. Kirlos squeezed her hand, acting as her living anchor. Without him, she might have flown right out of her body to escape the storm of sensation. “Table, release them.”

The instant her hips were free, Larissa bucked against the table, grinding herself into the fabric. She couldn’t think of anything but getting relief for the lust that throbbed throughout her entire body. “Oh no, you don’t.” Devlin pulled her back and scooped her up in his arms. “Please.” The word was barely audible. Devlin laid her on the table. The smooth fabric caressed her back, and she moaned. “You’ll get what you need, when I say you need it.” “Gods, please.” She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to calm herself. Devlin had pushed her before, but never this hard. The call from Ragland must have gotten to him as deeply as she’d suspected. When Devlin didn’t climb up on top of her, she opened her eyes. He took Kirlos’s arms and steered him toward the table. The Cerian looked as dazed and passion-drugged as she felt. “Get on your hands and knees. Use your mouth on her. But don’t let her come until I give permission.” Kirlos positioned himself as he was told. Larissa tensed, waiting for him to touch her, knowing if he licked her clit she’d go over. She had no control left. Kirlos must have sensed how close she was, because he started licking and nibbling the tender skin of her inner thighs. “Table, fuck both her entrances.” Immediately, tentacles pressed for entry. The sudden, intense fullness brought her right to the edge. Her mouth hung open as she struggled for breath. Kirlos licked at the skin of her perineum. She focused on his touch, trying to distract herself from the tentacles working themselves deeper into her. Suddenly, Kirlos stiffened. She opened her eyes. Devlin was positioned behind him, ready to fuck his ass. She could only imagine how sore and tender Kirlos’s flesh was after the beating he’d taken. Her ass burned and ached as it rubbed against the velvet-covered table, and Devlin had whipped Kirlos twice as hard as he had her.

She watched as Devlin flexed his hips and surged forward, pushing Kirlos against her. Kirlos’s hands bit into her thighs as he struggled to hold himself in place. Devlin pulled back and surged in again. Kirlos gasped, his breath hot against Larissa’s skin. Devlin growled. “Make her come now. I want her to go over when you do.” She thought Devlin reached around to grip Kirlos’s cock, but her brain ceased to function when Kirlos sucked her clit into his mouth. “Table, expand and fuck her harder.” The tentacles inside her grew in girth and length and increased their pace. Kirlos swiped his tongue across the head of her clit. She literally saw stars. She heard Kirlos groan as Devlin shoved him against her. Gods, Devlin was brutal today. Then Kirlos sucked, bit down on her clit, and she went over. Kirlos cried out at the same time she did. Her eyes fluttered open even as her body convulsed. Devlin smiled at her. She saw Kirlos’s hips pumping wildly. Then, his hot, sticky seed splashed her legs. Devlin’s eyes widened. She watched him come as the last of her own orgasm shook her. Never had he looked more beautiful or more vulnerable.
*** After a long hot shower during which Kirlos had to remind them several times that they had a meeting to attend and no more time for fooling around, Larissa got dressed and joined the men at the bar in their kitchenette. Kirlos handed her a strong, black cup of coffee. She breathed deeply over the steam and sighed. Real coffee was definitely one of the best perks of living in the captain’s quarters. Devlin picked up his jacket from where he’d tossed it on the back of the sofa. He slipped it on and settled next to her at the bar. He glanced down at his wrist unit and gulped down several huge sips of coffee despite its heat. “We need to go.” Larissa looked longingly at the coffee she’d barely started to drink, sat it on the counter, and slipped off her stool.

“Where do you think you’re going?” She frowned at him. “To the meeting,” “Under no circumstances are you to leave these quarters.” She took a deep breath to slow the rush of anger. “How many times do I have to remind you that I chose to stay on this station of my own free will?” “I warned you that if you stayed you would serve out your contract.” “And I told you that was bullshit. You’d already released me.” Devlin started to speak, but she was angry enough to risk interrupting him. “Before I worked for Lukas, I was part of a merc company. I’ve got high-level combat training, and I’m familiar with Ragland’s tactics. You need all the help you can get to prepare for this attack.” The color drained from Devlin’s face, and he choked on his coffee. Kirlos smiled. “I think the words combat training left him speechless. Probably best not to mention it again.” Larissa scowled. “Look, I appreciate that you two care enough about me to want to protect me. But as much as you might want me to be, I’m not some delicate little bed slave who spends all day pampering herself so she can be ready to receive your attentions. I’m a pilot, a damned good one or I never would have gotten mixed up with Lukas in the first place.” Devlin stood and grabbed her upper arms, jerking her against his body. “You’re mine no matter what you say, and I won’t have you risking your life.” She struggled, knowing it was pointless. If he wanted to, he could snap both her arms off. “Let me go.” “Not until you agree to stay in these quarters.” “You’re making a mistake. I could help you.” “No.” She took a deep breath and glanced at Kirlos. He shook his head, warning her not to push Devlin any further. But she was fucking sick of having to tiptoe around him. “I’m going with you.”

Devlin closed his eyes. For a fraction of a second, the grip on her arms tightened. Then he relaxed and let her go. When he opened his eyes, they’d gone wolfish. “You will do what I say one way or another.” “I --” He scooped her up and threw her over his shoulder. After releasing the Cerian sex table from its berth in the wall, he tossed her down on it. “Table on. Tether her wrist. Give her enough slack to walk to the kitchen and bath.” A tentacle immediately wrapped her left wrist.
Devlin turned and exited without another word. “Bastard,” she called after him.
Kirlos shook his head. “That he is, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
“You could let me go.”
Kirlos pulled her into his arms and kissed her lightly. “I’m not suicidal. We’ll be
back soon.” Kirlos exited. The door whooshed shut behind him.
Chapter 3 Larissa took another sip of her wine. She was surprised Devlin couldn’t see steam rising from her head. She’d never met a more obstinate man in her life, nor one more assured of his right to give orders to everyone around him. “I’ve accepted that you aren’t going to let me out in a fighter. I’m only asking to participate in strategy meetings. Talking about combat isn’t dangerous.” “Marc, she’s --” Devlin silenced Kirlos with a look before turning back to her. “We’ve already been over this. Until Ragland plays his hand, I don’t want you leaving quarters.” “I’m not a prisoner.” “You are if that’s how I can best protect you. Our random inspections have already uncovered a vial of poison so strong it could stop your heart in seconds. And a man carrying a weapon known to be favored by Ragland’s assassins was arrested last night for disorderly conduct.” “And all charges were dropped after we investigated further.” Devlin narrowed his eyes at Kirlos. “That doesn’t mean we weren’t deceived. All parties are still under surveillance.” Larissa smirked. “Of course they are. I know firsthand how justice works on this station.” Devlin snarled. “So now you want to complain about the hours of pleasure we’ve given you?” Larissa sighed. “No, I want to complain about not being allowed to help save a station I’ve come to love and for being treated like a weakling and a prisoner when I’m anything but.” “She has a point. I think you’re overreacting.”

Devlin glared at Kirlos. “So you think I should give Ragland’s men an easy target?” “Kirlos is just as likely a target as me, but you’re letting him wander the station.” “Only because he’s the commander. And, as a Cerian, he’s nearly as strong as the human shifters.” “I only want to attend some meetings and go over plans for outside defense.” “No.” Devlin brushed his hand across his short hair. “I’m done with this argument. Let’s go to bed.” “You think I want to sleep with you now?” “Sleep on the sofa then. You’re not going to change my mind.” Devlin stomped into the bedroom. A few seconds later, Larissa thought she heard something break. Kirlos sat down next to her and pulled her into his arms. “He’s scared.” She nodded, knowing if she spoke she’d likely say something she’d later regret. “I’ll try to reason with him. I’m no happier than he is about the prospect of you in battle. But you would be a valuable asset as a strategist.” “Just see if you can get him to let me out of here. I’m getting claustrophobic, and it’s only been two days.” Kirlos kissed her lightly. “I’ll do everything I can.” “Yeah, I know. No promises. Devlin doesn’t listen to anyone.” Kirlos gave a wry laugh. “Occasionally, he listens to me. We’ll see.” “Okay.” “Come to bed with us.” She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, not sure whether to give into her need to have their arms around her. Kirlos stroked her hair. “I’m scared, too. I don’t want to go to bed without you.” Larissa snuggled against him. “All right.” Angry as she was, she couldn’t bear to be alone.

Larissa wasn’t sure what Kirlos said to Devlin the next morning while she showered and dressed. But Devlin softened his attitude enough to allow her to accompany him to the command center. Claire, the chief operations officer, had been giving her lessons in station protocols. In a few more weeks, she would be ready to assist Claire in the day-to-day running of the station. Larissa was more than delighted to serve Devlin’s kinky interests in bed, but she needed more to do while he was working during the day. After only a few weeks on the station, she was going out of her mind lying around waiting for Devlin and Kirlos to need a fuck. Both her lovers had amazing stamina, but still, there were a lot of free hours in her day. She noticed how overworked Claire was and knew she’d enjoy the challenge of pulling together all the pieces needed to run a station. As soon as they reached the command center, a security officer paged Kirlos requesting assistance with a dispute in one of the docking bays. Kirlos kissed Larissa and departed as she settled herself at the workstation next to Claire. Devlin leaned over Larissa. She breathed deeply of his musky scent, and her body reacted immediately. In no time at all, she was fighting the urge to squirm in her seat. His heat positively surrounded her. No matter how frustrated she got with Devlin’s high-handedness, her body never stopped responding to even the smallest touch from him. She knew he could smell her arousal, but he pretended to be oblivious. “Have you two covered all the databases yet?” “Claire was going to show me the last of them today, and --” A beep from Devlin’s wrist unit cut her off before she could finish her answer. “It’s Kirlos. He needs me. Stay with Claire.” Larissa rolled her chair back and stood. “I’m coming with you.” “Do I need to cuff you to Claire’s chair?” She heard Claire snicker and would have laughed herself if she hadn’t been so annoyed. Devlin’s pig-headedness was funny when it wasn’t directed at her.

“Wouldn’t I be safer by your side? Or are you admitting that someone can protect me as well as you?” Devlin growled. “Let’s go.” Claire clamped her hand to her mouth, trying to hold in her laughter. Devlin turned toward her, scowling. “Any more out of you and you’ll face disciplinary action.” Claire hung her head and tried to look contrite, but Larissa saw the gleam in her eye. Maybe Claire should be teaching her how to deal with Devlin rather than showing her the intricacies of station management. Larissa glanced back at the other woman and smiled before she followed Devlin out of the room. Devlin didn’t speak as they rode in the lift, but when they exited on the docking bay level, he handed her a weapon. “Heat it up. Stay behind me and shoot anything that looks like a threat.” “Aye, aye, sir.” He scowled at her but said nothing. They entered a docking bay where Kirlos and a security guard stood arguing with a human in a flight suit. “What’s the problem here?” Devlin asked as they approached the small huddle. Suddenly, Larissa froze. Movement from the entryway of the angry human’s ship caught her eye. A man leaned around the door and aimed a rifle at Kirlos’s back. Larissa raised her gun and shot him through the head before he’d steadied his aim. The man rolled down the exit ramp and landed in a lifeless heap at the bottom. The high-ceilinged chamber echoed as the ramp continued to shake. Larissa kept her weapon out and ready as she approached him, but when she saw his head up close, she knew he couldn’t have survived. She swallowed the bile that rose in her throat. Devlin shoved the pilot to the ground and jerked his arms behind his back. “Who hired you?” The man didn’t speak. Devlin twisted his arms hard enough to break them. “Who the fuck sent you?”

Kirlos shook his head. “He’s dead.” Devlin bent to check for a pulse. “What the fuck? I didn’t even hit him.” Larissa glanced their way. “Suicide tablet. Lukas used to order us to carry them so we could take ourselves out rather than risk exposing his scams. I refused, but one of his other pilots killed himself rather than come home after a failed run. Think about it. If you were Ragland’s assassin, would you want to tell him you’d fucked up your hit?” Devlin kicked the dead man’s body. “Fucking bastard.” Devlin marched toward Larissa, grabbed her arm, and pushed her toward the door. “To my quarters. Now.” He glanced at Kirlos. “Both of you. I’ll handle clean up.” This was just fucking great. She’d proven herself a crack shot who could easily defend herself, but now she’d be lucky if she left the captain’s quarters any time in the next month. “I just saved your life, and now I have to run home and hide?” Devlin didn’t respond, but Kirlos took her hand and brought it to his lips. He placed a gentle kiss on the back of it. “Thank you.” She smiled. “Quarters, now, or I’ll carry you myself.” She rolled her eyes at Kirlos, and he smiled back. “I think we’d better go.”
*** Three days later, Larissa paced the sitting area of the captain’s quarters, which she hadn’t left since she’d killed Ragland’s assassin. Devlin had posted guards by the door. And she wasn’t sure whether they were there to keep potential assassins out or to keep her in. Devlin had become even more dictatorial in the last few days, something she wouldn’t have thought possible. She kept telling herself he was under enormous pressure to anticipate Ragland’s next move. And, as always, the more nervous or uncomfortable he got, the more he asserted his dominance. She’d learned that pattern within a few days of meeting him. As frustrating as it was, she could deal with his arrogance. What she couldn’t accept from him was coldness. She doubted he’d expressed emotions easily even before

he was put through hell by Terra Gov, but he’d always done a good job of using his body to demonstrate his feelings for her. Since she’d arrived on the station, they’d had sex every day, usually more than once. The first week her body had ached so much she’d wished for a respite. But now, the loss of his touch made her ache much deeper inside, right in the center of her heart. She’d convinced herself that Devlin truly loved her, but now she wasn’t as sure. Did he want her for the woman she was, or was she simply property he needed to protect? She heard Kirlos speaking to the guards outside. He’d stopped by whenever he had a free moment, wanting to do what he could to relieve her boredom and ease her fears. At least one of her lovers was capable of tenderness. She squeezed her eyes shut against an uncharacteristic flood of tears. The main door whooshed open. “Larissa, are you all right?” She wiped her eyes and forced herself to smile as she looked up. “No worse than yesterday.” He sat next to her and pulled her into his arms. “How do you put up with Devlin when he’s such a bastard?” He rubbed her back in soothing circles. “I use the god-like patience I learned at the Cerian court. If you think the captain’s infuriating, you should be in the presence of a Cerian prince. No one believes more firmly in their own rightness.” “No thank you. If they’re worse than Devlin, I can’t imagine how anyone suffers them.” Kirlos chuckled. “Not so surprising I chose to stay here, is it?” She raised her brows. “You know you’re only making me more curious.” He smiled. “I know. When Marc’s ready for me to, I’ll tell you our story.” “So in other words, I’ll never know.” “He’ll come around.” “Will he? Right now I feel like he’ll never let his defenses down around me.” Kirlos kissed her head and tightened his arms around her. “I’m sorry his actions are hurting you. He had a chance to fight Ragland before he took his company of

shifters and left Earth. But he chose to let Ragland go, because he didn’t want to risk losing his chance to help his people get away. Now he thinks he made the wrong choice. If he’d killed Ragland five years ago all his people would be safe.” Larissa ached at the thought of Devlin beating himself up for his choice. He never cut himself any slack when it came to protecting those under him, and he would never forgive himself if Ragland succeeded in destroying the station. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Tears gathered in her eyes again. “I know he’s angry and afraid, but why is he being so cold to me?” Kirlos stroked her hair. “He thinks it’s better to ignore you than let you see how much Ragland is getting to him. He doesn’t want you to doubt his ability to protect you.” “I don’t want him to protect me. I want him to love me.” “He does love you.” She wanted to believe Kirlos, but she also didn’t want to get hurt any more. Even if Devlin did love her, she doubted he would ever be capable of acting rationally toward those he loved. Could she really stay on the station if he wasn’t going to acknowledge her ability to protect herself? Tears spilled down her cheeks. “I can’t go on like this.” Kirlos took her chin in his hand and tilted her head up so she was looking into his eyes. “Once we get rid of Ragland, he’ll return to normal.” She squeezed her eyes shut and sighed. “If normal for him means expecting me to take orders and refusing to acknowledge the connection between us, that’s not good enough for me.” “I know he’s difficult, Larissa, but he really loves you.” “Does he? Or does he just want to own me?” She wiped away her tears and opened her eyes again. Kirlos looked sadder than she’d ever seen him. “I’m not entirely sure he can separate the two.” She took a long slow breath. “If he wants me to stay, he’s going to have to learn.”

Kirlos looked away and tucked a strand of his long hair behind his ear. “This conversation is too depressing. Why don’t we talk strategy? Captain Hardass won’t listen to you, but I’d love to know what you’d do if you were in charge of station defense.” She couldn’t help but smile at Kirlos’s attempt at levity. Kirlos definitely needed to spend more time stuffing that delicious cock of his up Devlin’s ass. Maybe that would soften him up a bit. “My ship is equipped with an anti-missile defense system. If I went out with the fighters, I could cover them from fire by Ragland’s people, forcing his pilots to move in closer where our people would have a better chance of taking them out. “If we assume Ragland has shelled out for top-of-the-line fighters, which I believe he has, the ships will be equipped with missiles while our crew has to make do with cheaper, short-range lasers. However, this means we have the advantage at close range. Therefore, our best move would be to neutralize the enemy’s missiles and force them into a dogfight.” Kirlos smiled. “You’re right. It’s a damn good plan. And there’s something poetic about Ragland being taken out by a ship he paid for. But even I draw the line at sending you into combat. Could you train someone else to fly your ship?” Larissa squeezed her hands until her nails bit into her palms. She’d had enough of this from Devlin. “I am perfectly --” Kirlos held up his hand. “I know you’re perfectly capable, but I love you too much to let you risk your life. Please consider training someone else.” Larissa sighed. This was the best offer she was going to get. “We don’t have much time, but someone who is familiar with ships of the same class and who is a fast learner could be trained to use the weapons. Of course, I know the ship and its eccentricities. No one else will be able to maneuver like I would.” Kirlos nodded. “I know. But Carlos is a top notch pilot, and he used to fly cargo for the Terran Marines. I’m sure he’s flown ships in the same class as yours.”

“Are you going to talk to Devlin then? Do you think he’ll agree to let me do this?” Kirlos shook his head. “Tomorrow morning, I’ll gather our flight leader, Jeff, Carlos, and a few of the other top pilots. Then I’ll come get you and bring you to our meeting.” “So we’re doing this without Devlin’s permission?”
Kirlos nodded.
“But if he finds out --”
Kirlos held up his hand. “I’ll take full responsibility.”
“How will you get me past the guards? Won’t they inform Devlin if I try to
leave?” “There’s a back door to our quarters, one only Marc and I know about. We’ll go out that way.” Larissa smiled, feeling better than she had in days. “Thank you.” Kirlos caressed her cheek with the back of his fingers. “I love you.” She swallowed against the sadness that rushed up from her chest. “I love you, too. And I love Devlin. But I can’t stay here if things don’t change.” She turned her head and saw her pain mirrored in Kirlos’s sun-colored eyes. His voice shook when he spoke. “I don’t want you to leave.” She couldn’t bring herself to say anything in response. After a few seconds, his lips curled up in a devious smile. “You know you’d miss the sex table too much if you left us.” A pulse of lust ran through her when she thought of all the wonderful evenings she’d spent at the mercy of the table’s wicked tentacles. Kirlos’s hand slid down her neck, teased the exposed skin of her upper chest, and cupped her breast. She gasped when he brushed her nipple with his thumb. “I do expect to be properly rewarded for defying our captain.”

Larissa slid her hand across his belly until it fit against the outline of his erection which was growing harder by the second. “Don’t worry. I know just how to repay you.” He chuckled. “I’m sure you do. The captain will be back soon. Let’s see if we can get into trouble again.” She started to reply, but he pinched her nipple firmly, and she moaned instead, answering only with her body as she pulled him into a ferocious kiss.
Chapter 4 Marc froze when he caught sight of Kirlos’s and Larissa’s tangled bodies on the bed. He watched, mesmerized, as Kirlos lapped and sucked Larissa’s nipples. Larissa locked her legs around Kirlos’s back, and her hips arched as she silently begged the Cerian to bury his cock inside her. Kirlos taunted her by keeping his cock out of reach. He pinned Larissa’s arms by her sides as he continued tormenting her lush breasts. She squirmed and fought, but he kept up his attack. Then she shrieked. Marc wondered if Kirlos had sunk his teeth into her tender flesh. Seconds later, Larissa began to make the pants and whines that always preceded her orgasms. She thrashed under Kirlos until he let go of her nipples, doubled her legs up on her chest, and drove his cock deep into her pussy. Marc could tell from the way Larissa moved and the flush reddening her skin that she was close to the edge. His hand went to his cock. He squeezed himself and imagined her inner muscles gripping him as tightly as he knew they held Kirlos. Her dark eyes fluttered closed, but they opened wide when Kirlos tilted his hips back and gave her a deep, brutal stroke. “That’s right. I want you to watch me while I fuck you.” A smile spread across Larissa’s face, a look of pure joy. Kirlos brushed away the thick strands of hair that had fallen into her face and smiled back. Marc could feel their love for each other. It pulsed around them and stabbed right at his heart. He started to button his pants and leave. They were so happy when he wasn’t around. Larissa had never smiled at him the way she did Kirlos. He wished he knew how to love like they did, so openly, so thoroughly, but he didn’t. His protectiveness,

his need, his possession were all he had. If he weren’t so fucking selfish, he’d set both of them free. But without someone who loved him, he might turn into the monster he feared he’d become when Terra Gov fucked with his genetics and made him a wolf. Without a tie to someone kinder, calmer, saner than he was, could he stay human? Kirlos drove hard and deep into Larissa. She sank her teeth deep into her lip and scrunched up her face, obviously concentrating on the pleasure wracking her body. Marc was certain she was going to come until Kirlos stopped suddenly. The Cerian stayed buried inside her, but he didn’t move even a fraction of an inch. “Please. Gods, please.” Her voice was low and strained and beautiful. Marc pushed down his pants. Then he bent and pulled off his boots and stepped out of his pants. He knew he would only wreck their playful moods with his anxiety, but he couldn’t help himself. He had to touch them both, and he couldn’t wait another second. He discarded his shirt and approached the bed naked. Kirlos must have sensed or heard him. The Cerian looked over his shoulder and continued holding himself still despite Larissa pounding his back with her fists. Kirlos smiled and rolled with Larissa, forcing a surprised shriek out of her as he pulled her up on top of him. He held a death grip on her thighs, keeping her from moving up or down. “Lay against me like a good girl.” Kirlos’s voice came out like a purr. Larissa thrashed her head, trying to sit up. “No. I can’t. I’ve got to --” “I believe the captain would like to stuff something in that hot little ass of yours. Hold it up and keep it still.” Larissa gasped and looked over her shoulder, obviously surprised to see Marc. But she smiled and wiggled her ass at him. “Hurry! Please!” Marc reached for the tube of lubricant on the table by the bed. As he squirted some in his hand and greased his cock, Larissa watched him with hot, hungry eyes. He

deliberately stroked himself with long, slow pulls of his hand, wanting to torture her, to make her beg, to make her want him as much as she did Kirlos. Kirlos slid his hands up her thighs so he could grasp her ass cheeks and spread them wide in offering to Marc. When he saw the tight pucker of her anus and Kirlos’s cock stretching her pussy below it, he couldn’t wait any longer. He knelt on the bed and guided his cock to her entrance. She opened for him, and he slid into her tight body. He groaned as he pushed deeper and let the tension ooze from his body. Kirlos released Larissa. She pushed back, taking him deeper. He grabbed her hips and pulled until he was fully seated in her. She whimpered and circled her hips. She didn’t need words to tell him she was desperate for him and Kirlos to move.
*** Larissa cried out every time Devlin drove his thick cock into her ass. She didn’t think she’d ever get used to the incredible feeling of having both men buried in her body. She reveled in the knowledge that they could feel each other’s cocks pressing against the walls of her channels. In the moments when they were all connected, she didn’t think she could ever leave. She rocked back, wanting Devlin to sink deeper into her. He growled and gripped her hips hard enough to hurt. He wasn’t changing, but the wolf was definitely ruling his lust. She groaned as Devlin’s pace increased. His deep animal thrusts had her grinding herself against Kirlos and flexing her hips so her clit rubbed across his pubic bone. Kirlos’s cock throbbed steadily inside her, and with every stroke, the vibrations nearly sent her over. She fought to hold herself back, expecting Devlin to command her to come when he was ready, but he didn’t say a word. He was usually full of commands in bed, but he hadn’t even scolded them for fucking without him. Larissa squeezed her inner muscles, clamping down on Kirlos’s cock and making his vibrations increase. Her breath rushed in and out in pants. She was so close, but she wanted Devlin’s hot words to send her into oblivion.

Then, Kirlos bucked under her. His eyes went wide, and she felt the hot gush of his come inside her. She couldn’t hold back anymore. Devlin’s claws stretched out and stabbed her hips. She’d been terrified the first time he’d done a partial shift during sex, but now, hot, tight, painful pleasure squeezed at her clit. Her body convulsed, clutching and releasing Kirlos’s and Devlin’s cocks in rapid bursts. She fought to get air in her lungs. Devlin snarled and pinned her down, immobilizing her as his orgasm took him. He howled as he spilled himself inside her. The three of them lay panting for several long moments. Then Devlin pulled himself out, pushed up on his hands and knees, and crawled off the bed. She turned to look at him, but he was busy pulling on his pants. Not once did he look at her as he put on his clothes. When he was dressed, he walked out. She heard the whoosh of the door as he exited to the corridor. Kirlos sighed. “He must be even more scared than I thought.” Larissa lifted herself off him and stretched out on her back. “Do you really think things will change if we defeat Ragland?” Kirlos took a long, slow breath. Larissa had decided he wasn’t going to answer when he said, “I wish I could promise you that, but I just don’t know.” Larissa stared at the ceiling. Her heart hammered. Tears slid from the corners of her eyes. They ran down her temples, wetting her ears and hair. Kirlos sat up, pulling her with him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her head against his collarbone. Then, she squeezed her eyes shut, not wanting to cry anymore, but he stroked her hair and nestled his head on top of hers. “Let it out, Larissa.” Her body shook with silent sobs as her tears mingled with his silky hair.
Chapter 5 Jeff, the flight leader, glanced at Kirlos. “You weren’t kidding when you said she knew her stuff.” Larissa smirked. “I’m a damn good pilot. Lukas would never have hired me if he didn’t believe I could protect the merchandise.” Jeff looked at her and smiled. “I see why the captain and commander like you so much. Did you do many combat runs?” “I flew combat for about a year. I got burned out fast and wanted something less stressful. I kept working for the same merc company, but I switched to cargo runs. Eventually, I missed being stationed on Earth so I took the job with Federated Transport. Of course, it turned out to be nearly as stressful as my combat days.” Jeff nodded. “I agree with the commander. Carlos is the best candidate for flying your ship. I’ve never met a faster learner and --” Jeff froze in mid-sentence. His mouth hung open, and his eyes widened. He looked like a fish who’d realized he was no longer in the water. No one else at the table moved or spoke. Larissa’s back was to the door, but she knew without turning around that Devlin had walked in. She forced herself to swallow past the lump that formed as she swiveled to face him. The captain’s eyes glowed golden like his wolf. Larissa feared she’d see claws if she looked down at his hands, but a quick glance told her he was holding himself in check. He was also holding a pair of handcuffs. “Get up.” Larissa knew better, but she chose to resist. “Captain, your men have recognized that I am a valuable consultant. I wish you would reconsider --” “Get up now, or I’ll drag you out of the seat.”

Kirlos cleared his throat. “Captain, I invited her. I strongly recommend you listen to what she had planned.” Devlin glanced at Kirlos. “I’ll deal with you later.” He growled as he turned back to Larissa. “I won’t repeat myself again.” Her heart pounded. Technically, as captain, he did have the right to bar her from the meeting, even to arrest her if she refused to comply with his orders. She’d seen him berate other crew members for less serious infractions, but that didn’t change the fact that she’d had enough of his arrogant attitude and his over-protectiveness. “Captain Devlin, with all due respect, I have developed a battle plan which could make the difference in whether your men survive this fight with Ragland.” Devlin didn’t say another word. Instead, he dragged her away from the table, cuffed her arms behind her back and threw her over his shoulder. She kicked and fought, nailing him once in the shin. But she might as well have been a trapped butterfly flapping its wings for all the chance she had of getting free. She was no match for Devlin’s enhanced strength. After one final solid kick to his thigh, she gave up and focused her energy on keeping herself from being severely jostled as he took long, rapid strides. From her upside down position, she saw Kirlos exit the meeting room and start after them. Devlin whirled around so fast her head nearly collided with the wall. “Commander, you will continue with your meeting. I do not require assistance with our disobedient slave.” Fury burned in Larissa’s chest. How many times were they going to have this argument? She’d agreed to stay with them of her own free will. Now, Devlin was making her regret her choice. She twisted her head to look at Kirlos. Looking back at her, he shook his head and mouthed, “I’m sorry.” Devlin stomped down the corridor to his quarters. He slapped his palm on the locking mechanism so hard she expected it to break, but the door whooshed open. He headed straight to the bedroom, and she couldn’t suppress the wave of desire that curled through her belly. They’d done some of their best fucking when he’d been

angry with her. But this time, she cursed her body’s response. She was angry and hurt that he would treat her as he had in front of his pilots. Yet her body tensed with lust at the thought of what he had in store for her. What would he do to her for her defiance? She’d pushed him harder than she ever had before. The idea that he would do likewise sent a wicked thrill through her at the same time it tightened her chest with fear. Removing the cuffs, he sat her on her feet at the end of the bed, facing away from him. “Don’t move.” She obeyed, barely even letting her chest rise to breathe. He jerked at the back of her belted sweater, pulling the tie loose and dragging it down her arms. He threw it to the ground and spun her to face him. She sucked in her breath when she saw the fury reflected in his eyes. He grabbed the sides of her thin Cerian-style tunic and ripped. The flimsy garment fell off her shoulders, slid down her arms, and pooled on the floor, leaving her dressed in nothing but her soft leather boots. He circled her and sat. “Kneel and bend over my lap.” Her knees gave -- bringing her to the floor before her mind even consented. From the first moment she’d seen Devlin, her body had responded to him as if it had been made for him. She wished their minds were as compatible. She arranged herself over his lap, her body tense, expecting pain. She knew he wanted to make her pay for her disobedience. His hand slapped her bare ass. She thought she was prepared, but she’d forgotten the power in his arm. Stinging pain radiated through her body. He made no effort to go slow. She couldn’t catch her breath as blow after blow landed on her buttocks. She struggled at first. But then her body began to absorb the blows, to pull them into her and convert them to pleasure. She squirmed now -- but with need, not agony. She knew in an intellectual way that her ass was on fire. Her cheeks had to be riddled with welts, but she felt only an intense sensation that her body accepted as pleasure. She bucked her hips against Devlin’s thigh, biting her lip to keep from begging him to fuck her.

He growled, and she felt claws scratch her where he pinned her to his legs to keep her still for his blows. She tensed, losing her ability to ride the pain for a few seconds. His claws nicked her ass a few times, but he kept enough control not to rip her open despite the wildness that pulsated from him. She enjoyed the contrast of soft, warm fur rubbing her back where he pinned her and the hard punishing slaps to her ass. He kept spanking her long after she’d expected him to stop, but she stayed with him, riding the hot pleasure he forced into her body with each blow. Finally, he stopped. She lay still for several seconds, unable to control her limbs. She’d ridden the waves of pleasure so high she felt as if she were actually floating above Devlin’s lap. As she came back to herself, one of the first things she noticed was Devlin’s loud breathing. He was panting as hard as she was. His cock felt like a steel bar pressed into her side. The next thing she noticed was the hot fire radiating from her ass. She wondered if the heat from her skin would burn her if she touched it. Devlin used the arm that had anchored her to his legs to pull her up. She winced as she came up on her knees, knowing she couldn’t bear to sit back on her heels if that was what he asked. But he said nothing so she remained kneeling. His claws and fur had disappeared. Only his eyes were wolfish now, but they were full of very human agony and need. “Swear you won’t disobey me again.” Her heart pounded. The part of her that had surrendered to him completely begged her to do as he asked, but the practical part of her knew that wasn’t an option. She could not stay with him if he wouldn’t let her be the person she truly was, a woman who wanted to submit in bed but who needed her freedom the rest of the day. “I --” Her voice caught as her submissive side tried once again to make her give him what he wanted. “I can’t.” “What do you want from me?” His voice shook. She’d never seen him look more wounded.

She wanted to reassure him, tell him everything was fine, but she couldn’t. “I want you to love me for who I am.” His snarl covered the pain she’d seen in his eyes. “It’s my duty to protect you and everyone else on this station.” “I want to be more than a duty to you.” He grabbed her under the arms and slung her up on the bed, making her fall onto her back. She expected him to push her legs up and bury his cock in her. Instead, he knelt at the end of the bed and pulled her to him. He licked her pussy with desperation, as if tasting her could save him from the pain she knew he felt. His spanking had aroused her to the point that her clit was engorged and super sensitive. The strokes of his tongue were so intense she cried and whimpered without restraint. She begged him to release her, but he kept attacking her with tongue, lips, and teeth. When he sucked her clit into his mouth, the pleasure went beyond reason. Her entire body shook and fell apart. She could believe she literally disintegrated and reformed long moments later. As she came down from her peak, she realized she was sobbing. Loud heart-rending sobs shook her body as tears poured down her cheeks. Her orgasm had released all the pain she’d collected in her body every time Devlin refused to see her as more than a plaything. As her sobbing slowed, she realized Devlin was no longer touching her. She wiped her eyes and forced herself to open them. He turned his head as soon as their eyes met. But the way he wiped his cheeks as he faced away from her told her she wasn’t the only one brought to tears by the intensity of what they’d shared. She wanted to say something but she didn’t know any words to convey how she felt, at least not any that wouldn’t hurt or anger him more. Not that he gave her a chance to try. Instead, he walked away, leaving her aching, physically and emotionally, for more of him than he could give.

The door to Marc’s office slid open despite his having keyed it to respond to no one but him. Kirlos barged in, worry evident on his face. “Tell me you didn’t hurt her.” Marc snarled. Anger bit at him, and he had to wrestle his wolf into submission before he could give a rational answer. “No more than she wanted me to, at least not physically.” “You’ve got to stop trying to control her, or she’s going to leave.” Marc slammed his fist down on his desk. “I can’t be who she wants me to be.” Kirlos shook his head. “She feels the same way.” “I’ve got to concentrate on beating Ragland. I can’t pamper her right now.” Kirlos grabbed the front of Marc’s jacket and hauled him out of his seat. ”Fires of hell! She’s going to walk out on us, and it’s going to break both our hearts. We’ll never find another woman this perfect for us. I’ve put up with a hell of a lot from you. Don’t fuck this up.” Marc’s initial reaction was anger. As if fighting with Larissa and waiting for Ragland to kill him wasn’t enough, he didn’t need Kirlos on his case. But as he allowed himself to see the pain in Kirlos’s eyes, his anger drained away to be replaced by anguish. “I don’t want to lose her either.” “Then listen to what she has to say and give her the freedom she needs.” Marc shook his head. “I don’t know if I can.” Kirlos reached out and cupped Marc’s face. “For all your arrogance you don’t think highly of yourself, but I’ve seen how much love you are capable of. I know you can be the man Larissa needs. You are the man Larissa needs. You just have to believe it yourself.” Marc started to protest, to say that Larissa expected more than he could give, but Kirlos dropped to his knees and undid the fastening of Marc’s pants. As Kirlos freed Marc’s cock and sucked it deep into his warm mouth, Marc remembered exactly why he loved the Cerian so much. No one else had ever known exactly what he needed without being told. But Kirlos could read him with ease.

When he and Kirlos had first become lovers, he’d believed the Cerian was lying about the extent of his psychic talents. After a few months together, he’d realized that Kirlos really couldn’t read his thoughts, they just had a connection that went beyond what Marc could define. He’d felt that same connection with Larissa from the moment he’d first gotten her on his sex table. He groaned as Kirlos worked magic with his long slender tongue. Kirlos dug his fingers into Marc’s ass, forcing his hips forward and swallowing him whole. Marc fisted his hands in Kirlos’s hair and let his head drop back. A growl rumbled in his chest. Walking away from Larissa had made his cock throb with desperate need. He knew he wouldn’t last long. Kirlos deepened his suction and Marc lost control. With a hoarse shout, he bucked against his lover’s mouth and shot his come down Kirlos’s throat. When Kirlos sat back on his heels and smiled up at him, Marc knew exactly what he needed to erase the last of the heartrending ache in his chest. “Fuck me.” Kirlos frowned. “Yes, I’m asking you to shove that cock of yours up my ass, and I expect you to do it now.” Kirlos smiled. “Turn around and put your hands on your desk.” Marc obeyed. He rarely let Kirlos top him. And he’d never admit his feelings to anyone. But at that moment, he wanted nothing more than to have his ass thoroughly plundered while he did nothing but hang on and take it. Kirlos shoved Marc’s pants down his legs, leaving them trapping his ankles together. “Bend over more. Show me that delicious ass.” Marc did as Kirlos wanted, spreading his legs as much as his pants would allow and arching his back. Kirlos slapped his lover’s ass and chuckled. “Much better.” Marc closed his eyes and bit his lip to hold his growl inside. He could do this. He could let Kirlos take him without fighting back.

He heard Kirlos opening a drawer. He knew his lover was extracting the lube he kept in his office. But he didn’t open his eyes to look. He just kept focusing on keeping himself still and in human form. Kirlos pressed a few greased fingers against Marc’s anus. Marc opened to him, groaning as Kirlos worked his way inside. The Cerian wiggled his fingers, rubbing Marc in a way that had him rock hard again despite his having just filled Kirlos’s mouth with come. Kirlos slid his fingers out, and Marc moaned at the loss of fullness. But quickly enough, Kirlos unbuttoned his pants and pulled out his cock. He pressed the tip against Marc’s ass. “Beg me.” Marc growled long and low. But he’d asked, hadn’t he? He’d made himself vulnerable. Kirlos slapped his ass. “Do it.” Marc fought to hold back his wolf, but he also felt his cock jump at Kirlos’s commanding tone. He arched back, hoping that begging with his body would be good enough. Kirlos slapped his other cheek. “Beg for my cock.” Marc’s chest tightened so hard his lungs had no room to expand. He opened his mouth and nothing came out. He panted and tried again. “Please.” That must have been good enough because Kirlos shoved into him, forcing him to focus on nothing but accommodating his lover’s cock. Marc bucked and squirmed as his body adjusted and opened for Kirlos. The strong vibrations from Kirlos’s cock made him shake with lust. Kirlos gave him no mercy. His lover pounded him over and over, never slowing down. Marc’s mouth hung open. His breath rushed in and out. He pushed back, slamming his hips against his lover, needing Kirlos to touch his cock but refusing to ask him. Finally Kirlos released Marc’s hips and snaked a hand across his belly. But he stopped inches from the root of Marc’s cock. “Is this what you need?”

Marc snarled. “Fucking stubborn bastard.” Kirlos slowed his pace, making a long, agonizing drag outward. Marc clamped hard to keep the Cerian from sliding all the way out. Kirlos chuckled and drew lazy circles on Marc’s belly, teasing closer and closer to his cock. Marc clutched the desk so hard he feared the wood might snap. The muscles in his legs were rock hard with tension. With each shallow breath, he grew more desperate to come. “Gods of Earth, touch my cock.” “That’s not begging.”
“Kirlos --”
”Tell me what else you want.”
“Fuck me. Fuck me so hard I can’t hold myself up.”
Kirlos groaned and drove deeper as he wrapped his hand around Marc’s cock.
Two strokes later, Marc went off in Kirlos’s hand. Kirlos bucked against him and shuddered. Marc felt his lover’s cock spasm as fluid heat filled his ass. Then Kirlos collapsed against him, forcing Marc’s chest onto the desk.
Chapter 6 When Kirlos pulled out and stood, Marc lay there, trying to catch his breath and gather his dignity. He heard Kirlos open the door to the tiny lavatory connected to Marc’s office. Then Kirlos returned with a warm wet cloth which he applied to Marc’s ass. His mind hadn’t registered just how sore and well used he was until Kirlos went to work cleaning him up. When Kirlos bathed his cock, he sighed. Even after two explosive climaxes, the warmth felt wickedly good. He opened his eyes and Kirlos smiled at him. “Liked that, did you?” Marc nodded. “Thank you.” Kirlos bent down and kissed him. “You know I relish the opportunity to give it to you when I can.” Marc stood and Kirlos handed him the cloth. “Your turn to do me.” Marc wrapped his cloth covered hand around Kirlos’s cock. “I’ll talk to Larissa. I’ll do what’s necessary to make her stay.” Kirlos nodded. “Good.” That was another thing Marc loved about him. He never said “I told you so.” Marc was zipping his pants when his wrist unit beeped. He glanced down. “Fuck. It’s Claire. This better not be another crisis.” Kirlos picked up his pants from where he’d kicked them. “I’ll take care of it.” Marc held up his hand to silence Kirlos. He knew he’d hurt Larissa deeply, but he also knew he had to make sure they were safe before he could talk to her. He pressed the talk button on his unit. “Yes?” “Captain, one of the guards was attacked at the entrance to the docking bays. Security believes the attacker is a shifter. He’s headed toward your quarters.”

“I’m there.” He followed Kirlos out the door, both of them running at top speed. “We need to keep him alive until we find out what he knows of Ragland’s plans.” Kirlos patted one of the two holsters on his hips. “I’ve got a tranq gun.” “Remember, shifters need at least triple the human dose.” As soon as they entered the officers’ corridor, Marc saw a man who looked vaguely familiar toying with the locking mechanism on his door. Both the guards Marc had placed on guard duty lay dead on the floor. Marc began to shift in mid-stride. The change was complete before the bastard could react. Marc leapt, taking the man down just as the intruder started to shift, interrupting the process. Marc’s claws slashed at the man’s chest. Those who’d been altered needed to concentrate to shift. If an opponent attacked first and distracted them with pain, they were unable to attain their animal form. Marc knew he needed to keep Ragland’s man alive, but his lupine instincts told him to rip out the man’s throat. The enemy shifter snarled long and low, struggling to free his arms. He was stronger in human form than Marc, but Marc was no longer human. In a flash of memory, Marc remembered this man. When he shifted, he became a bear. Marc knew he had to end the fight before the man could let his bear free. Marc lowered his muzzle, unable to stop a keening sound as he forced himself to move away from the tender flesh of the throat and sink his fangs deep into the man’s shoulder. Relishing the taste of blood in his mouth, Marc tore at the man’s flesh. His claws sank into the man’s side, making deep gashes and holding him in place while he bit deep into the man’s shoulder. The shifter screamed again and again. Marc’s wolf lusted for the kill, and Marc barely held onto his human mind. When he thought he’d done enough damage to prevent the man shifting, Marc rolled them both so Kirlos could get a shot at the man’s back. He heard Kirlos fire and prayed his lover would err on the side of caution and keep shooting. A bear would need a huge amount of tranq to knock him out. When he’d

heard Kirlos fire five times the man collapsed against him, his cries silenced. Marc waited several seconds before shoving him off and releasing him. Kirlos called for a security team as Marc licked his lips, savoring the last of the man’s blood. Then Marc focused on the part of his mind that brought the shift and changed back to human form. He slipped on his pants and helped Kirlos hogtie Ragland’s man using extra thick lengths of chain made from hull alloy. Unlike human legends which said silver would render a shape-shifter incapacitated, the only thing that mattered about the material used to restrain a shifter was that it was so strong the shifter couldn’t break loose. He prayed the chains they used would hold. If so, his position would keep the man from shifting unless he wanted to risk breaking all his limbs. Marc used his wrist unit to page Claire. “Send another security team. The guards stationed at my quarters are dead. Their next of kin will need to be notified and another pair will have to take over their duties.” “Yes, sir. Are you and the commander all right?” “We’re fine. Thank you, Claire. Devlin out.” Kirlos laid a hand on Marc’s shoulder. “Go talk to Larissa. I’ll stand guard over the prisoner.” Marc looked at the door of his quarters. For a second, he considered Kirlos’s suggestion. But if he’d miscalculated the strength of the chains and the prisoner woke up and freed himself, Kirlos could be killed before Marc could reach him. Risking Larissa’s increased resentment was better than losing Kirlos permanently. He shook his head. “No, I need to be there when he wakes.” Kirlos opened his mouth but closed it. Marc could guess what the Cerian wanted to say. “I’m not afraid to face her. I’m afraid to leave you alone with this monster. You saw what he did to the guards and how well he fought my wolf even though he was still in human form.” Kirlos nodded, but he failed to mask the pain on his face.

Kirlos’s fingernails bit into his sweaty palms as he pounded against the barriers in the prisoner’s mind. The man was damn good at blocking, just like Marc and the other shifters. Kirlos’s head throbbed, but at least he had the satisfaction of knowing the intruder’s hurt worse. He pushed again, determined to find a name for the man -Vance, that was it. He’d gotten in far enough to catch surface thoughts. Vance struggled against his chains as if he could somehow use his physical strength to fend off Kirlos’s intrusion into his mind. Kirlos drew a piercing scream from the prisoner as he tore down the man’s shields and gained access to the part of his mind where Kirlos could discern the truth of his statements. It took every bit of Kirlos’s concentration to hold himself where he needed to be. He wanted to collapse to his knees from the strain, but he refused to let the prisoner see how much his efforts cost him. He nodded to Marc, signaling him to start the interrogation. “What is Ragland planning?” Vance snarled. “I won’t --” Kirlos sent what Vance might interpret as a lightning bolt into his mind. The shifter roared in agony. Marc snarled. “You can’t lie to us. You will answer truthfully or he will do that again.” Kirlos squeezed with his mental feelers, effectively shutting off the part of Vance’s brain that allowed him to lie.
*** After nearly an hour of grueling work on Kirlos’s part and intense pain on the part of Vance, Marc extracted the information they needed. Vance had been sent to kill Larissa or Kirlos, preferably both, so Marc’s grief would distract him from preparing for a full-scale attack. Ragland was on his way with most of his team of shifters and his mercs. He had twice as many men as Marc, and his pilots had far more combat experience. The enemy force would arrive in less than a day.

Kirlos released Vance and sank to the floor, no longer concerned with showing weakness. The prisoner’s life was forfeit now. Kirlos let his head rest in his hands, massaging his temples to ease the ache his effort had caused. The only time he’d finessed a mind more capable of blocking him was the single time he’d forced the truth from Marc. Marc stood over Vance. The prisoner now lay limp and exhausted. Marc growled and Vance let a whimper escape. The prisoner knew he was going to die. Marc’s eyes were gold and wolfish, but when he turned to face the guards and spoke, his voice sounded fully human. “Execute him by injection. You’ll need about five times the serum you would use for a normal human. Dispose of the body when you’re done.” Marc headed for the door. Kirlos knew he needed to follow, but he wasn’t sure his legs would work. A part of him had hoped Marc would shift and finish the job he’d started when he’d attacked Vance in the corridor. Such would have been a fitting death for the bastard, but he was proud of Marc for the choice he’d made. Killing Vance when the man was helpless would only have worsened Marc’s self-image, something he couldn’t afford, especially when their future with Larissa hung in the balance.
*** Kirlos entered Marc’s office and immediately slumped into a padded chair. Marc looked up from his monitor. “Are you all right?” Marc’s gentle tone warmed Kirlos. Tenderness from Marc was so rare, he tried to soak it up when he got it. “I’m fine. The headache will wear off soon.” Marc frowned. “You pushed yourself too hard.” “We needed the information. There was no choice.” “Don’t ever risk damaging your mind. There are other forms of torture we could have used.” Kirlos shook his head. “Torture makes men talk. It doesn’t necessarily make them tell the truth.”

Marc massaged his temples. He looked as exhausted as Kirlos felt. Kirlos took a deep breath, bracing himself for a fight when all he wanted was to pull Marc into his arms and kiss him senseless. “We’ve got to implement Larissa’s plan.” Marc closed his eyes and nodded. “I know.”
Kirlos shook his head, unable to believe Marc’s acquiescence. He must have done
himself more damage than he thought forcing Vance’s mind open. “What did you say?” Marc scowled. “This is no time for games.” Kirlos sobered and nodded. “How much of her plan did you hear?” “All of it.” “You mean none of us noticed you standing there?” “No. I had the room bugged. I knew you were up to something.” “Fucking bastard.” Marc smiled. “You’ve always known I was.” Kirlos shook his head. “I guess I have.” “Don’t think you won’t pay for pointing it out though.” Kirlos’s cock stirred at the thought. “After we kill Ragland, I’m counting on spending several days in bed with you.” Marc raised his brows. “I’m going to find Larissa. Round up Jeff and Carlos and meet me back here.”
Chapter 7 Marc walked to his quarters as fast as he could without actually running. His heart slammed against his chest so hard he was surprised his jacket wasn’t jumping. Gods, how he hated admitting he’d been wrong. If he’d been in wolf form, the fur on his back would have been standing up. But no matter how disgusted he was with the situation, he wasn’t going to let his own stubbornness endanger everyone on the station. What a smart man would do was let Larissa pilot her own ship. She’d never be able to train Carlos to her level of competence in a day. But the thought of her in combat hardened his stomach to a rock. As the door to his quarters slid open, he drew in his breath and stepped forward. He was already tired, but he knew this conversation would take more out of him than the fight with Vance. He didn’t see Larissa anywhere in the living area so he headed for the bedroom. When he didn’t see her there, a sick fear curled in his belly. He marched into the lavatory calling her name but he knew with certainty that she wasn’t there. When he turned back toward the bed, he noticed a notepad lying on top of the covers. The screen was blinking. He picked it up and pressed the button that lit up the screen. Dear Marc and Kirlos, I love you both but I can’t live the life I’m being offered on this station. I’m taking my ship and heading out to find work somewhere else. I hope you find the woman you are looking for. Larissa Marc thought he’d understood how important Larissa was to him. But as he read those words, a knot formed in his stomach. He had to grip the bed to keep from collapsing to his knees, as if without her, he could no longer hold himself up.

How could she doubt that she was the woman he and Kirlos needed? He didn’t doubt it, not anymore. He loved her, and he wasn’t going to lose her. He glanced down at the time stamp on the message. Ten minutes ago. He pressed a button on his wrist unit. “Claire.” “Yes, Captain.” “Expect a request from Larissa to depart in the FT1. Do not comply with her request.” “Yes, Captain.” He heard the question in her tone, but he had no intention of elaborating. He ended the conversation and shifted instantly. He focused on running as fast as he could, leaping over obstacles and scaring the piss out of several crew members and merchants. Finally, he reached the docking bay where Larissa’s ship rested. He slowed and shifted back, oblivious to the fact that he was buck naked, having left his clothes in a heap in his quarters. The cabin door was swinging upward to close but he leapt and caught the end of it, pulling himself up and over just in time to keep his toes from being smashed. Larissa whirled away from the controls as he landed on the deck with a thud. She drew her weapon and trained on him so fast her movements were a blur. Marc stood slowly, letting her identify him, hoping she hadn’t recognized him already and intended to shoot him anyway for chasing her down. “What the fuck are you doing here? And why are you naked?” Anger burned in her eyes, but she holstered her weapon. “I’m here to stop you from making a big mistake.” She raised her brows. “And the nakedness?” “I shifted to get here faster.” He watched her start to smile, stop herself, and then give in and grin. “I thought you’d found my note and decided to have one last fuck before I headed on my way.” His cock hardened at the thought. “We’re most definitely going to fuck, but it will not be the last time.”

He watched her chest rise and fall as she took a long, slow breath. “Marc, I’m not staying.” “I love you.” Her eyes filled with tears, but she took a step back. “I love you, too, but I need my freedom.” Marc’s heart pounded. He knew the one thing he could say to convince her to stay. But he could lose her that way as surely as he’d lose her by letting her leave. Of course, the work she did was dangerous. She could be killed within days of starting a new job. And then, she’d die believing he didn’t respect her abilities. He tried one more plea. “You’re the woman Kirlos and I need. Please stay.” She shook her head. “I can’t.” His stomach churned. Could he give her what she needed? It went against all his instincts, human and wolf. The desire to protect his mate was strong, but ultimately his love for her proved stronger. “We captured one of Ragland’s shifters. Ragland, his shifters, and a company of mercenaries with twice our numbers will be here within hours. Would you stay long enough to pilot your ship in the battle?” Larissa’s eyes went wide. She stumbled backward against the control panel. “Pilot my ship?” “Yes, that thing you do where you ride in the ship and use all these buttons to make it go where you want it to. It would be best if you also controlled the defense system you described to Jeff.”
*** The tears in Larissa’s eyes fell down her cheeks. She had to wait several seconds before she could speak. “You really mean this?” Devlin nodded, looking painfully serious. “If you’re willing to take this risk for us, then I’m willing to let you.” She never expected the captain to offer her the chance to enter the battle, but was it more than a move of desperation to save the station? “And after we’ve kicked Ragland’s ass?”

Devlin’s lips curled up. He looked like himself again. “I’ll fuck you so hard you’ll have to stay in bed for several days to recover.” Heat raced through her body, despite her fear that he wasn’t ready to give her what she needed. “And then?” “What else do you want?” “I want to stay on as a member of the crew and keep training with Claire.” Devlin closed his eyes for a few seconds. “Will you consider doing that and being our lover?” Gods of Earth, he thought she’d meant she only wanted be a member of the crew. She smiled. “Only if you promise to take all your frustration out on my ass.” Devlin’s eyes widened. She’d actually managed to stun him. “I want the freedom to move about the station and participate in its running and defense. I also want to have the crew think of me as more than the captain’s bed slave. But when we are in bed, I’m yours to control.” “Strip.” “What?” “Strip. Right now.” “If Ragland will be here in less than a day, we’ve got to start preparing now.” Devlin raised his brows. “Did you mean what you just said?” Larissa considered pointing out that there was no bed in sight, but this was no time for teasing. She let her eyes roam the length of Devlin’s naked body, stopping for a few long seconds to appreciate his cock which arched up over his belly, nearly reaching his navel. Then she reached for the zipper of her flight suit. Lust spiraled through her body at the thought of what he might want from her. The need to hurry and the imminent fight fueled her body’s need, and she knew the crotch of her flight suit was soaked through. Kicking off her boots, she lowered her zipper, pushing the suit from her shoulders and shimmied her hips until it dropped to the floor.

Devlin jerked at the waistband of her panties, ripping the Velcro tabs at her hips. The flimsy garment came off in his hand, and he threw them to the deck. “Against the wall.” She backed up until she hit the wall. Devlin’s intense expression made chills run down her body. His eyes were fully human, but she knew the wolf was looking out at her. He wanted to eat her up. He took hold of her waist and lifted her effortlessly. She automatically wrapped her legs around him to steady herself. He cupped her buttocks and tilted her hips so the tip of his cock brushed her entrance. She moaned.
“Ah, nice and wet.”
“Please.”
He shoved hard, filling her with one merciless stroke. She arched into him,
circling her hips and pressing against his buttocks with her heels. He drove in over and over, relentless in his assault on her body and her senses. She let the wall and his hands support her, having no strength to hold herself up. She heard whimpers and thought it was her own voice, but it sounded far away. Her attention was too focused on the throbbing agony in her clit to properly register anything else. “Tell me you’re going to stay.”
She was beyond the ability to form words.
“Tell me now.” He thrust deep and stayed still.
She struggled, bucking her hips and clamping her inner muscles, trying to make
him move. “No more until you say it.” She snarled in frustration. He growled back, sounding every bit the fierce predator he was. She fought to get air in her lungs. Her whole body burned with need. “I-I’ll stay.”

“Don’t ever try to leave again.” He punctuated his words with a thrust so hard it slammed her against the wall. “Fuck me.” She tore at his hair and bit deep into his neck, making him growl. He shoved her against the wall over and over. “Is this enough for you?” “No. I-I want claws.” He made a strangled sound and pulled out of her. “No!” she screamed, but he stepped back, forcing her to lower her legs to the floor. “Hands and knees.” His voice was low and gravelly. She looked up to see that his eyes had gone golden. She collapsed to the deck, lifting her ass toward him, and begging silently for him to enter her again. Claws sank into her hips as he knelt behind her. His first thrust stole her breath, and the pumping of his hips never slowed. She was hanging on the edge of explosion. “Never. I’ll never leave.” “Damn right you won’t.” He used one hand to gather her hair and push her head down so he could bite the back of her neck, pinning her like he would another wolf. She needed him to touch her clit or she was going to lose her mind. “Gods, Devlin. Please!” “Marc.” “What?” “Call me Marc, goddamn it. I’m your lover right now, not your captain.” “Marc, make me come.” He groaned and reached around her body. He pinched her clit so hard she screamed. Her orgasm hit a second later. He howled as her body spasmed around him, driving into her over and over. Then, he froze, and she felt hot come spurt deep inside her. They both collapsed to the deck. The first thing Larissa became aware of was an incessant beeping from her wrist unit which was biting painfully into her arm. It took her a few seconds to extract her

arm pinned under Marc’s body. She pushed at Marc and he finally rolled off her so she could get her wrist to her mouth. “Larissa, go.” “Thank the gods. I thought you were missing, too. Is Marc with you?” Kirlos’s voice sounded shaky, fearful. “Yes, he’s right here.” “And you’re both safe?” “Yes, we’re fine. More than fine actually.” She heard a loud exhalation. “I’ve been trying to page him and couldn’t get an answer. I was afraid…” “He’s fine. He must have gotten separated from his wrist unit when he shifted.” “Shifted? Are you okay?” “She’s fine,” Marc said, pulling Larissa’s wrist toward his mouth. “We’re on our way.” “Donovan just signaled us. He’s spotted Ragland’s carrier ship on his sensors. At his current speed, Ragland will be here in six hours.” “Shit. Well, at least I know your truth reading abilities haven’t declined.” Kirlos snorted. “Send Jeff and Carlos to the docking bays. Page all pilots and get them down here too.” “Down here? What are you doing at docking bay level?” “Never mind where I am. Get yourself to command. I want you monitoring the situation from there. Devlin out.”
Chapter 8 Marc joined Kirlos in the command center. “How close are they?”
Kirlos gestured toward the screen. “I’d expect them to jump in five minutes.”
“Clear Larissa’s ship for departure.”
Kirlos glanced back at him. “Where is she?”
“Just clear her ship.”
“FT1, you’re cleared for departure.”
“Thank you, Commander. I’ll see you at the victory party.”
Kirlos froze when Larissa’s voice came back to him through the com. “What the
fuck are you doing on that ship?” “Piloting it. Am I clear or not?” Marc pushed Kirlos out of the way and hit the sequence that unlocked her docking bay door. “You’re cleared. Begin your exit.” “What are you doing? You can’t let her go out there.” “You’re the one who told me to give her more freedom.” “I didn’t mean for you to send her into combat. Call her back.” Marc snarled. “I’m the captain, and I give the orders on this station. Do you need to be removed from command?” Kirlos leaned down and hit the com button. “Larissa, you damn well better come back to us.” “I will. I love you both.” Marc glanced at his lover. “When I got to our quarters, she was gone. I found her on board her ship, preparing to leave.” Kirlos closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

Marc snarled. “It’s my fault, all right. Does that make you happy? If I’d been less of an asshole, then I wouldn’t have had to go this far to show her that I could give her what she needed.” Kirlos shook his head. “I know. This is who she is, what she needs. I just don’t want to lose her.” “If she’s as good as she says she is, we won’t.”
*** Blue light flashed as another of Ragland’s fighters exploded. Almost all of them were in close range of Marc’s pilots. Larissa had managed to keep all but a few of their missiles from getting through, and the enemy pilots had all but given up using their long range firing capabilities. Marc’s fighters were still outnumbered, but they were holding their own in the various dogfights taking place around her. Another missile came at her and Larissa turned the blast back on the stubborn pilot, blowing him and his ship to bits. She checked her screen to monitor the battle. All fighters were now engaged in close-range fighting. There wasn’t much she could do but watch. Several moments later, Marc’s pilots were clearly carrying the day. Most of Ragland’s fighters were either disabled or destroyed. Marc couldn’t declare victory yet, but the battle had definitely turned in their favor. She maneuvered her ship to the edge of the battlefield, but movement on her monitor drew her attention. She looked up and saw Ragland’s carrier ship making its way toward the hyperspace nexus. Ragland was on board. No way was she going to let him get away. Fortunately, along with the missile defense system Federated Transport had installed, she’d made her own alterations. The mass driver she’d installed was crude, but she had the ability to disable Ragland’s ship. She pursued the slow-moving cruiser. “Larissa, what the fuck are you doing?” Marc shouted over the com link. “Ragland’s trying to escape. I’m going to stop him.” “Turn around now.”

“I’ve made my own additions to my ship. I can handle this.” “Stop now. That’s an order.” “I love you, and I’m going to make sure this bastard never bothers you again.” “Fires of hell, Larissa. Stop now.” Kirlos’s voice was raw with emotion, but she couldn’t stop. She had to neutralize Ragland’s threat now. She cut their com link and proceeded forward. When she was nearly in firing range, her ship warned her that the carrier was powering up its weapons. She dodged their first missile shot and continued her pursuit. The second shot grazed the top of her ship. She asked for a damage report. “Minor hull damage. All systems still online.” Thank the gods. That one was close, but she was in firing range before another shot reached her. She gripped the shaft of her weapon’s control and depressed the trigger with her thumb. Her ship shuddered as depleted uranium slugs launched toward the carrier. Her shot made contact. She didn’t slow down. She directed hit after hit straight into the power center of Ragland’s ship, but she held back from destroying it. The damage she inflicted would be expensive to repair but having a carrier ship would add profit and protection to Marc’s station. And she loved the idea of Ragland donating such a resource to them before he died. The missiles stopped coming at her. She asked her ship to scan the carrier. “Weapons offline. Life support at critical capacity.” Excellent. She established a com link with the ship. “This is the FT1. Surrender or be destroyed.” Ragland appeared on Larissa’s screen. He had the same glint of insanity in his eyes that she’d seen in her boss when he contemplated a kill. “You’re bluffing. You wouldn’t destroy us when there might be someone worth redeeming on board.” “You have no weapons and a limited air supply. Surrender in the next minute, or I’ll take out the rest of your life support.”

Ragland opened his mouth to speak, but the com flickered and went black. Larissa wasn’t sure what sort of trick they were up to. She kept her weapons powered and ready to fire. Fifty-five seconds later, a single life pod flew out of the ship. Larissa knew instinctively that Ragland was on board. Fucking coward. Ready to kill his own men but not ready to die for his cause. She wanted to go after him, but she stayed in position and kept her weapons trained on the ship. A woman she didn’t recognize appeared on her screen. “FT1. FT1. We surrender.” The woman’s voice shook with desperation. “Who am I speaking to?” “Julia Anderson. I’m acquainted with Captain Devlin. Ragland is no longer on board. I have taken command, and we wish to cooperate.” “Surrender accepted.” Marc’s voice came over the com. Larissa had patched him through so he could talk directly with Anderson. “Sit tight and prepare to be boarded. Larissa, collect the pod and return to base.” Larissa turned to see Marc’s fighters heading toward the station. The battle was over. All that remained was executing Ragland. She turned her ship toward the pod that floated several hundred yards from the carrier and seized it with her grappling hooks. The docking bay doors opened as she neared the station. “Release control of your ship for docking.” Claire was back at the control panel. Hopefully, Marc and Kirlos would be waiting when she docked. “Releasing now.” As Claire used the station comp to guide Larissa’s ship into the station, Larissa’s heart hammered in anticipation of greeting Marc and Kirlos. Fear of their reaction to her disobedience and the lust that always came after a burst of adrenaline warred for control of her body. Of course, the two often made a nice combination. She could well imagine the hot night that was in store for her, one she’d likely live through with a very sore ass. Just thinking of what Marc might do in retaliation had

her so wet and squirmy, she nearly forgot to release the life pod before she brought the ship to the ground. She saw Marc and Kirlos through her ship’s windshield along with several members of the security team. She needed to put her arms around them just to reassure herself that they’d all survived. She quickly disengaged herself from her headset and popped the cabin door. As it lowered to the ground, movement from the life pod caught her eye. The door of the pod swung open, and an enormous jaguar leapt out. Larissa drew her weapon and fired, but the bullet didn’t even slow Ragland down. He was on Marc before Marc had a chance to fully shift. Why the fuck hadn’t she anticipated something like this? She fired again and again. But Ragland behaved as if his fur was bullet proof. He tore at Marc with fangs and claws. Marc’s claws were out and fur partially covered his body, but he hadn’t made a full shift. Larissa remembered that he had to concentrate to shift. He’d never be able to do so with Ragland on top of him. She had to do something to distract him. What would make him turn away from his target? He’d been waiting to kill Marc for years. “Hey, Ragland! Why don’t you come get a taste of me first? Wouldn’t you love for Marc to watch his lover die?” Ragland kept a tight hold on Marc, but he glanced her way. She had his attention. “You know you want me. I’m the woman who stopped your escape.” He growled. She was getting to him. “I find you pathetic and disgusting, but I offer myself to Marc in his bed every night.” That did it. The fierce and hungry jaguar leapt toward her. She hit the ground and rolled to the side, praying she could move fast enough to escape. If Ragland got to her before Marc shifted and attacked him, her life was forfeit. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a blur of blond hair. Kirlos had launched himself in the air. He hit Ragland in the side, knocking him off course.

Ragland raised his paw to cut Kirlos down. Larissa screamed. A huge wolf landed on top of Ragland. Marc’s teeth sank deep into his enemy’s back, and Ragland howled in pain. The two beasts grappled with each other. Larissa didn’t move, didn’t breathe. She was barely aware of Kirlos crouching down beside her and laying a hand on her side. Finally, Marc rolled to the top, pinning Ragland beneath him. With a savage snarl, he ripped out Ragland’s throat. Larissa wanted to look away from the carnage, but she couldn’t. She needed visual proof of Ragland’s demise. Bile rose to her throat when she saw that Marc had bitten so deep Ragland’s spine was exposed. At least she could be confident Ragland wouldn’t endanger them anymore. Kirlos pulled her into his arms, forcing her to turn away from Ragland’s corpse. Unable to contain her emotions as adrenaline pumped through her body, she sobbed against his chest while he stroked her hair. Then Marc was there too, wrapping them both in his now human arms. Tension drained from Larissa’s body as she snuggled close to both men and reveled in how warm and alive they felt. Long moments passed before she remembered that most of the security team was watching them.
Chapter 9 The victory party was in full swing in the station’s open market area. Larissa had wanted to follow Marc to the medical bay but Kirlos had insisted that she celebrate with the pilots whose lives she’d saved. The Cerian promised to deliver Marc back to her safe and sound. For the last half hour or so, she’d accepted more congratulatory hugs than she could count. She’d talked shop with the pilots she’d impressed with her skills. Carlos, Jeff, and a few others had convinced her to give lessons on how to maneuver her ship and how to modify ships in the same class to have similar capabilities. Knowing Marc and Kirlos wouldn’t try to interfere with these plans made her feel lighter and happier than she had in a very long time. Suddenly, a heavy hand clamped down on her shoulder. Lust curled in her belly as her body recognized Marc even before she turned around. When she did look over her shoulder, he scowled at her. “Anyone else on the crew would get tossed into the brig for defying a direct order.” His deep voice held a hint of a growl. Cream dampened the thin panties Larissa wore under her flight suit. She gave him a brazen smile. “I can think of far more interesting ways for you to punish me.” Kirlos stepped up behind Marc. “Why don’t we take her someplace private and let her plead for mercy?” Marc’s lips curled up in an evil smile. She shrieked as he scooped her up in his arms and began making long strides toward the lift. When the lift doors retracted, Marc shifted her, tossing her over his shoulder before entering. Kirlos stepped in behind him and caressed Larissa’s ass as he requested

the car to deliver them to their quarters. “I can think of at least ten ways I’d like to redden her sweet little cheeks.” Marc snarled. “She’d enjoy it too much.” “Hmmm. Perhaps so. Maybe we’ll save that for after we’ve really made her suffer.” Anticipation gave Larissa shivers. Kirlos pressed his hand into the crack of her ass and slid downward, coming temptingly close to her pussy. She arched back, but he pulled his hand away. The lift doors opened, and they stepped out. None of the three of them spoke as they walked to their quarters. Marc moved so quickly he was practically running. Larissa bounced against his back, but she didn’t care. She felt the tension in the thick muscles of his shoulders and back. She’d bet he was as eager as she was to begin their own twisted celebration. Kirlos unlocked the door, and they stepped through as it slid open. Marc sat Larissa on her feet in the living area. She looked up and saw lust and anger burning in his eyes. “When you’re out in a ship and your captain gives you an order, you follow it without question. I agreed to treat you as a member of the crew, but I expect you to follow the same rules as everyone else.” She glanced at Kirlos, but he scowled back. For once, he was as incensed by her defiant behavior as Marc. She closed her eyes and sighed. Marc was right. She would have never defied an order from a superior when she was a merc. She would’ve been pissed, but ultimately she’d have done what the captain asked. But didn’t Marc see she’d made the right choice? “Do you realize what we can do with a carrier ship?” Marc gripped her upper arms and pulled her close until their faces were inches apart. Her heart hammered as she looked into his burning amber eyes. “Your life is more important than any fucking ship.”

“I took a calculated risk. Ragland would be alive now if I hadn’t done what I did.” Kirlos snarled. “He nearly killed Marc when you brought him in and he could have slaughtered us all.” “I had no idea he would be able to free himself and shift so fast --” She looked at both of them, and it hit her. They’d known. They hadn’t been waiting in her docking bay because they wanted to greet her. They’d known Ragland would put up a fight even when the odds against him seemed impossible. Her stomach roiled. What if he’d killed Marc or Kirlos? “I’m sorry.” Marc nodded. “Apology accepted.” She glanced at Kirlos. “I love you, Larissa, but I was pissed as hell that you put our lives at risk.” Marc was right, if she was going to have the same rights as any member of the crew, she had to go by the same rules. “I can’t promise I won’t ever question you again, but I will follow the chain of command.” “Every member of my crew has the right to their opinion, but in the midst of a battle, they do as they’re told.” Larissa nodded. “Yes, Captain.” Marc looked at Kirlos. “What sort of punishment would be appropriate for our now contrite crew member?” “I’m not above torture.” The wicked grin on Kirlos’s face lightened Larissa’s mood. He wouldn’t be smiling if he hadn’t forgiven her. Marc smiled too. “Then torture it is.” He released Larissa’s arms and stepped back. “Strip and get on the table.” Larissa had her flight suit, boots, and panties off in no time. Then she climbed onto the sex table and kneeled, waiting for further instruction. “On your back, legs bent and spread.” Gods of Earth, she might not like Marc giving her orders from the command center, but she loved it when he used that authoritarian tone in private.

“Table, restrain her wrists, thighs, and ankles.” Tentacles shot out and wrapped her in all the specified places. They pulled her arms over her head and spread her legs even wider. Bands tightened around her thighs until they were pulled close to the table’s surface. She squirmed experimentally and realized she could do little besides arch her back. Her pussy clenched, loving her helplessness. Marc stared at her as if contemplating his next move. She tried to relax against the table, but her body burned in anticipation, and her breath exploded in shallow bursts. She knew Marc and Kirlos would torment her until she was willing to agree to anything just to have them fuck her. But she also knew they loved her. She couldn’t believe she’d been lucky enough to find two men who could take her where she needed to go in bed while respecting her strength and knowledge. She smiled up at them, more than ready for what she had coming. “She looks entirely too pleased with herself,” Kirlos murmured as he stepped up to the side of the table and bent over her. “Do I have permission to begin?” Marc nodded. Kirlos bent and sucked one of her nipples into his mouth. She arched up against him as much as her bonds would allow. He flicked his tongue back and forth rapidly, making her whimper. Then he bit down and she screamed. He chuckled. “Like that, do you?” He let his fingers take over, pinching both her nipples between his thumbs and forefingers. “Have you ever had them clamped?” An embarrassingly pitiful whimper escaped her as she shook her head. Kirlos smiled. “Good. I wanted to be first.” He glanced up at Marc. “Table, release voice command to Commander Adesta.” Marc climbed on the table and caressed Larissa’s inner thighs as he studied her pussy. He leaned down, holding his mouth inches from her pussy. “She seems to be enjoying this too much. I hope you’re planning to torment the hell out of those lovely nipples.” Larissa squirmed, trying to reach his mouth. Kirlos purred. “Oh, I am. Table, form a clamping tentacle.”

Something slithered out of the table at her side. Larissa sucked in her breath. Her entire body tensed. “Help her relax,” Kirlos murmured as he grasped the tentacle and positioned it over her nipple. Marc swiped his tongue across her swollen lips. She sucked in her breath, letting out another undignified whimper. Marc licked again, pulling her attention downward. “Table, clamp her.” She screamed and thrashed, desperate to escape the hot sting in her nipple. It hurt like hell, but as the sensation snaked down her body to her clit, it turned to throbbing pleasure. Then Marc melded the agony and ecstasy as he sucked her clit into his mouth. “Table, I need another clamp.” Kirlos’s voice seemed to come from far away, but Larissa bucked and twisted again, trying to get away from Kirlos’s hand as it plumped her other breast and then tugged at her nipple, stretching it upward to ready it for the other clamp. “Please.” Kirlos grinned. “Oooh… begging already.” Marc mumbled something and laughed against her pussy, but he continued his licking and sucking, distracting Larissa enough to slow her struggles. “Table, clamp her.” She screamed again. She’d told herself she could hold back, but her body was so sensitized from Kirlos’s touches and Marc’s attention that the pain was more intense than the first time. Yet her body welcomed the torture and within seconds she felt nothing but burning need. Marc drew her clit into his mouth once again. She was on the edge of orgasm, and she prayed he wouldn’t stop. Then, Kirlos bent and licked the tip of her nipple where it emerged from the clamp. The swipe of his tongue was like an electric shock. She cried out, wanting to force her nipple into his mouth and to escape at the same time.

Kirlos gave the other nipple the same treatment while brushing his fingers back and forth across the first one. Larissa gasped. Her hips arched against Marc. She was going to come. Then both men pulled back, leaving her hanging on the edge. She opened her eyes. Kirlos grinned at her. “You didn’t think we’d let it end that quickly, did you?” She wanted to sob. She was desperate, but that was exactly what the bastard wanted. Marc reached out and rubbed his hands over her belly. “We have an endless supply of clamps. I think she needs more decoration.” Larissa imagined more of the biting clamps closing over her skin. She shivered with fear and lust. “Please.” “No need to beg. We have every intention of giving you more.” She scowled at him. “Oh, you meant please stop?” Marc chuckled. “Not a chance.” Kirlos smiled at his lover. “Would you like to do the honors this time?” “Yes, Commander, I certainly would.” “Table, release voice command to Captain Devlin.”
Chapter 10 Marc came up on his knees and leaned over her. He pinched the skin of her belly as if searching for the perfect spot to place another clamp. Then, he leaned forward and flicked his tongue across the tip of first one nipple and then the other. Larissa’s body jerked. The pain from the clamps had faded, but Marc’s attention forced her to focus on it again. For a few seconds, she felt the tight pinch so keenly she had to coax herself through shaky breaths. She didn’t think she could handle it. But then Marc began biting and licking her belly in a long line from under her breastbone all the way to her pussy. His nips distracted her, and his tongue felt so damn good. He retraced the path with his finger. “I think a nice, orderly little line of clamps right here will be perfect.” Kirlos groaned. “I can’t wait to see.” Larissa heard fabric rustle. She turned to look at Kirlos. He’d removed his shirt and was dropping his leather pants. When he realized she was watching, he wrapped his hand around his hard cock and stroked it. “Don’t you wish you could have a taste?” She moaned, wishing exactly that. “All in good time.” He released his cock and returned to undressing. “Table, form another clamp.” Marc’s words brought her attention back to him. He tugged at the skin under her breastbone, pulling it up so the clamp could grab it. She tensed. “Table, clamp her.” She gasped. It hurt, but not nearly as much as the ones on her nipples. Then Marc tugged on the clamping tentacle and she moaned. Kirlos joined her on the table. “I would love to stuff my cock in your mouth while Marc gets you all fixed up. But I’m afraid you might bite when the clamps go on.”

He brushed a finger over one of her abused nipples. “I’m just going to have to make do with your nipples.” She shrieked as his fingers tugged on her nipple clamps. And the brush of his tongue against her nipples was so intense she expected to pass out. It was all she could do to breathe. Marc continued his work despite her inability to keep her body still. As each clamp went on, she gasped and jerked, trying futilely to escape the exquisite torture the clamps delivered. She also fell deeper and deeper under the spell of pain and lust her lovers wove around her until she floated in a land of painful pleasure. Marc sat back after he placed a clamp a few inches above her pubic bone. “Just one more to go.” She wasn’t sure he could fit anymore in before he reached her pussy. Where was he going to put the last one? He pressed his palm against her pubic bone and pinched her clit between his fingers. Oh gods, no. He wouldn’t really put one on her clit, would he? Kirlos released her aching breasts. “Are you sure she’s ready for that?” She wanted to say she wasn’t, but her voice didn’t seem to work anymore. Marc stroked her belly along the side of the clamps. “Larissa, are you with me?” It took her several seconds to open her eyes, but finally, she managed. Marc was naked now. When had he removed his clothes? She hadn’t realized she’d been that far gone. His thick cock strained against his belly and lust seemed to radiate from him. “I want to clamp your clit, but I’ll use a much looser clamp than the ones we’ve put on your nipples and belly. Can you take it?” She drew in a shaky breath. Could she? “Do you promise to fuck me afterwards?” Marc smiled. “There’s no way in hell we’re not going to fuck you. My cock is begging to get inside you right now.” Her hips jerked toward his hand at the thought. “I can take it.” Kirlos took her mouth in a hard kiss.

“Table, clamp her.” She screamed into Kirlos’s mouth, but she couldn’t identify what she felt as pain. It was more like an awakening of every nerve ending in her body. Her scream went on and on even as Kirlos kept kissing her. When she’d gotten her thrashing body under control, both men sat back. “God she’s beautiful like this, isn’t she?” Marc nodded, agreeing with Kirlos’s praise. The fact that they thought she was beautiful made her smile. Then her smile turned to a giggle. She knew she was drunk on lust and pain, but she didn’t care. She loved them, and they loved her, and that was perfect. “Larissa.” She looked up at Marc. “Now that we’ve gotten you all decorated, it’s time to unwrap you. But first, we need to know that you’ve learned your lesson. When you’re in this room, who do you belong to?” “You.” Then she looked over at Kirlos. “Both of you.” “And when you’re outside our quarters. Are you one of our crew, bound by the same rules they are?” “Yes, Captain, sir.” Marc smiled. “Excellent. We’re going to take all the clamps off at once, and it’s going to hurt. But we’re going to be right here afterwards, and we’re going to make you come so hard you’ll truly think you’ve died.” She swallowed hard. Marc’s words made her aware of all the clamps on her body and the way her skin heated and throbbed around them. She arched her hips and the clamp on her clit bounced, making her moan. Marc glanced at Kirlos. The Cerian leaned over her breast, fitting a hand under one and holding his mouth poised over the other nipple. Marc arranged himself so his mouth hovered over her clit. “Table, I am going to count to three. When I reach that number, release all the clamps.”

Larissa sucked in her breath. Her heart pounded so hard, she thought it would pop out of her chest. She was dizzy and hot and so damned horny. God, they were good at this. They could have tortured women for a living. “One, two, three.” Her world exploded. Hot fiery pain shot to her nipples and down her body. Marc’s mouth closed over her throbbing clit as Kirlos sucked in one of her nipples. Their laving tongues eased the sting. She arched against them. Pleasure built, higher and higher. Gods of Earth, she was going to die. No one’s body could take this much sensation. She tried to hold back, frightened of what she felt, but Marc scraped his teeth against her clit, and she fell. Her body spasmed wildly. Her inner muscles clamped tightly around the fingers Marc thrust inside her. She tried to hold on, but finally she closed her eyes and let darkness take her. The sounds of lips and tongues at work drew her back to reality. She opened her eyes to see Marc and Kirlos kissing each other with a passion so strong it was palpable. Their raging hard cocks rubbed against one another as they groaned into each other’s mouths. She desperately wanted to be a part of what they were sharing. Her body pulsed to life despite the storm she’d just been through. She sat up and crawled to the end of the table. Marc pulled himself away from Kirlos and turned to her. Without speaking, he lifted her so she could wrap her arms and legs around him. He tilted her hips forward and positioned his cock at her entrance. She sighed as he sank deeply into her. She loved all the creative torments the two men gave her, but she never stopped craving the feeling of their hard cocks filling her. Kirlos supported her from behind while Marc lifted her and slammed her back down. Then he did it again, groaning as he stretched her open. Marc sank to his knees, bringing her with him. “Only the two of you could get me so hot I can’t even make it to the bed.”

Larissa smiled at his complaint. Marc lay back, pulling her on top of him. She pushed back with her hips, taking him deeper than she could when they were standing. They both groaned. She heard the drawer of the table opening, followed by the unmistakable sound of Kirlos lubing himself. She clenched her muscles in response to the desire that raced through her as she thought of Kirlos’s long vibrating cock in her ass. Marc pulled her forward, trapping her against his chest as Kirlos positioned himself behind her. Marc couldn’t move with her clutched against him, but he flexed his cock inside her, making it tap against her G-spot. She ground her hips against him, pressing her clit against his belly. Kirlos slapped her ass. “Stop moving.” Marc shifted his grip on her, grasping her buttocks and opening her for Kirlos. She gasped as Kirlos pressed his cock against her ass. He surged forward and she opened to him, moaning as his cock began to vibrate inside her. It had been a while since they’d fucked this way, with him in her ass. She’d forgotten just how good his vibrations felt there. Marc groaned, and she knew he could feel it too, right through her body. When Kirlos was seated inside her, Marc let her go. She rose off of him and pressed herself toward Kirlos, but the Cerian clamped his hands on her hips. “I’ve gotten a taste for punishing you and I want to ride this out to the end.” She struggled against him, desperately needing to move on the two cocks inside her. Kirlos delivered a hard spank. “You’re going to stay still, and I’m going to fuck you.” He pushed Larissa back down on Marc. Marc’s arms came around her, holding her immobile. Kirlos fucked her slowly, drawing his long cock out until she could barely feel the thuddy vibrations. Then driving back in, filling her deep and making her gasp. Marc made tiny strokes in her pussy, giving her just enough to drive her insane. “Please. Please.” She was practically sobbing as she squirmed against them, needing the freedom to move.

Marc chuckled. “I thought you liked being filled by us.” “I-I’ve got to move.” But Marc continued to hold her while Kirlos tortured her with his slow fucking. Finally, she noticed the Cerian’s breathing becoming more ragged and his rhythm speeding up. “Let her go.” Marc did as Kirlos asked. Then Marc pushed at her so that all three of them rolled to their sides, freeing all of them up to move. Larissa bucked her hips wildly, trying to get as much friction from both men as she could. Marc wrapped his arms around Kirlos, trapping her between them. He fucked her hard, slamming his cock deep into her pussy. Kirlos drove hard into her ass. He was just rough enough to hurt a little but not too much. Their movements grew more and more frantic. Larissa’s orgasm rose from the deepest part of her body. It was going to be frighteningly intense like the last one. She wanted to tell both men how much she needed them, but she couldn’t get the words out. “More,” was all she could manage. “You’ll get more,” Marc growled. He shoved in hard and stilled. Just as his cock began to spurt, she clamped down on both of them. The vibrations in Kirlos’s cock grew stronger. She shoved herself against Marc’s body, and her clit made contact with his pubic bone. That was all she needed to go over. Her world exploded as she heard Kirlos shout her name along with some incomprehensible words. Many moments later, Larissa stirred. She tried to disentangle herself, wanting to sit up and look at both her lovers. Marc wrapped an arm around her and held her still. “Don’t ever try to leave again.” Kirlos rubbed her back, kneading her tired muscles. “Don’t even think about it.” She smiled. They may have agreed to let her function as a crew member, but they’d never stop being possessive. “I love you both with all my heart. I have no intention of leaving. Ever.”

She kissed Marc and then Kirlos before snuggling against both of them and pulled them as close as was physically possible, knowing she’d never get enough of the warmth that radiated from them.
