Introduction The Impact Listening series is an innovative set of learning materials that helps students develop listening skills for social, academic and business purposes. The series has three levels: Impact Listening 1 (for beginning level students) Impact Listening 2 (for high-beginning and low-intermediate students) Impact Listening 3 (for intermediate and high-intermediate students)
Impact Listening makes listening an active and enjoyable experience for students. While featuring an abundance of natural listening input and a variety of creative activities, Impact Listening leads students to become successful listeners through an effective 4-step process:
Step 1:
Warm Up
Build word-based listening skills To be successful listeners, we have to hear words and phrases accurately. With the Warm Up, each unit begins by helping students understand high-frequency words and phrases. As students become confident in their ability to "catch" common words and phrases, they increase their capacity for listening to longer stretches of language.
This section introduces common words and phrases related to the unit theme. With its interactive format, Warm Up gets all students involved at the outset of the lesson.

Step 2:
Listening Task
Develop focusing strategies It is important to have a purpose when we listen. Setting a purpose allows the students to become active listeners. In Listening Task, students are given a variety of tasks to focus their attention. A short follow-up speaking activity allows students to express their own ideas. They develop active listening strategies: Prepare, Guess, and Focus.

Step 4:
Interaction Link
Integrate what you have learned Connecting to the topic is a vital part of becoming a better listener. Throughout each unit, students are given the opportunity to develop curiosity, activate their knowledge, and express their ideas and opinions. Interaction Link helps students link listening and speaking.
