Glossary cricket (KRIK-it): A jumping insect similar to a grasshopper. ear (ihr): The part of the body used for hearing. kitty (KIT-ee): A baby cat is called a kitten or kitty. lifeguard (LIFE-gard): A lifeguard is someone who is trained to save swimmers in danger.

parrot (PA-ruht): A parrot is a tropical bird with a curved beak and brightly colored feathers.

whistle (WISS-uhl): You blow through your lips to make a high, shrill sound.
