Six totally different worlds each separated by thin invisible membranes. Each world not knowing the other existed, except the Alps Queen and the ancients in the forbidden world. The Alp was watching from behind some of the thick trees in the forest. He watched Galinn and Leoma walk inside the home and could sense the others inside. He stood just behind Leoma watching her take a drink of water, closing his eyes he inhaled her scent—mmmmm. She turned, saw the Alp and passed out cold. Take her! Hurry, before the warriors notice. Galinn inhaled deeply and proceeded explaining about his past. “The world that you know of is only one world in a realm of many. Each world is separated by a very thin membrane that is invisible. Between each membrane lies another world, you live in the human world, next to it is the forbidden world which is where the Alp escaped from. The forbidden world is ruled by a very old shapeshifter that is referred to as the Queen.” “Hundreds of years ago an Alp escaped the forbidden world into the human world and the Queen herself came after it, we were in middle of a great war and after much destruction everyone was annihilated except Kallisto, Alexios and I. She watched us fight and was impressed with our fighting skills. She offered us immortality if we helped her capture the escaped Alp.” His tone became angry and his hands drew into fists. “We did, what she didn‟t tell us was that we would have to live in the forbidden world for eternity. The only time we could leave would be to capture another escaped Alp, which as you can see, doesn‟t happen very often.” “So, after this Alp is killed the three of you will return to wherever you came from?” Hoping Galinn would say yes, Levi just wanted everything to go back to the way it was before they showed up. “Yes….except I‟m not returning, I‟m staying with Leoma. Not really sure how I‟m going to achieve this, I will not leave her.” Holding her tighter he bent and kissed the top of her head tenderly. She looked up, smiled and kissed his arm. She was falling in love with the big lug. Then it occurred to her that if they go after the Alp, she would be left alone with a vegetative woman on the couch. That was so not going to happen.

If we just happen to see something, don‟t go all stupid on us.” Looking up at the sky and inhaling, he closed his eyes tightly. He knew if Leoma came she‟ll hold them up. They just didn‟t have time to baby her. “I‟ll keep it together, just don‟t leave me alone.” The side of her mouth drew up into a smile, the smile that melted Galinn‟s heart every time she did that. “Anyway Galinn won‟t let anything happen to me, will you Galinn?” “No, I will protect you beautiful. She ran to were Levi, Galinn, Kallisto and Alexios stood. The four men turned toward the woods as Leoma walked up to them. Their guns in front of them ready to kill. Silently Kallisto lead the pack, following the scent of the Alp over the mountains. They walked by the remains of Peanut and his copper still. One by one they passed by it, Levi and Leoma realizing how dangerous this dark creature could be. A tear fell from Leoma‟s eye. This was the first time she saw it and knew instantly who it was, adorable Peanut. The old man would tell her stories about Irvine and the people in it from a long time ago. No one spoke; the only sounds were the wind blowing through the trees and the birds. The smell of pine and lavender was strong through these neck of the woods and Kallisto, Alexios and Galinn were all thinking of a way they could stay and not return to the forbidden world. They would prefer to die than to go back to the barren, bleak world.

The trees finally broke into a clearing and Leoma recognized the area, the Fitchburg Furnace stood down the path from them. From where they stood, the back of it doesn‟t even show how majestic this old structure was until they stood in front of it. Two stacks soar extremely high even from the back. Leoma never noticed how massive it was until then, she guessed it was because she never really looked at it. It was always there and as teenagers a bunch of them would drive up and sit inside the furnace and drink a few beers and talk. One thing was for sure, all of them thought how spooky the furnace looked. Nothing was around it, no homes, and no buildings, nothing…. just forest. Leoma slid half the way down the path that led by the side of the forest to the base in front while the men walked down the path with ease. There were pieces of old ore lying around on the ground with rusty handmade nails that were abandoned when the workers just packed up and left. Walking around to the front they just stared at each other and then back to the furnace. The hair on the back of their necks started to stand up, feeling something wasn‟t right or maybe it was because of the stillness of the forest suddenly. No breeze or sounds, just dead silence suddenly. “Alexios and Kallisto remember our homeland? The forests smelling of pine, lavender and fresh clean air.” Galinn was looking around the open area in front of the Fitchburg Furnace, remembering his past and everything he lost by agreeing with the Queen. “We remember Galinn.” Walking to his side, Alexios put his hand on Galinn‟s shoulder and looked at him with regret. Alexios knew what Galinn was feeling because

he was feeling the pain in his chest from remembering their home, the women they loved, the wars they fought and the families they had forgotten about. “We should look around.” Levi decided the area should be checked out for signs of the Alp. Alexios and Kallisto followed him up the hill and around the furnace. Leoma felt the need to comfort Galinn, what lost he must feel of everything he loved gone, he outlived everyone he knew. The Queen took all his rights away. He wasn‟t around to see his family grow old. She had this strong feeling to comfort him. Walking up to stand in front of Galinn, she looked up and smiled. Reaching around his waist with her arms she pulled herself up next to him, squeezed him and just held on. He rested his chin on her head and sighed. “I want to stay with you Leoma and watch the smoke gather, drift toward the top of the mountains. Son of a Bitch!” All four of the men were swearing like sailors in a bad storm while they took off running towards the Alp‟s direction. The Alp was still slightly faster than the warriors and way faster than Levi, even though he was breathing heavy he still kept them insight. They had their guns in front of them ready to blow the fucker away. Jumping over rocks and fallen trees, the Alp ran like he had lived in these woods all his life. Leoma hung upside down like a ragdoll. Her arms flailing aimlessly as the Alp ran. She tried to claw his back hoping he would drop her, which sure as hell didn‟t work. He acted like he didn‟t even feel her, he probably didn‟t since his skin felt like thick rubber. The Alp already knew where he was going. Jumping over the Kentucky River like it was just inches wide. He ran up the side of another mountain to a cave he had noticed earlier. It was set behind a thick mass of trees and vines. Hidden from view, he just happened to locate it accidentally just after his mid-day Peanut snack. The cave would provide excellent protection to mate with this human female.
