Carnal Interlude Kate Hill Vampires Floris and Bastian are a happily married couple. To celebrate Floris’ birthday, they decide to spend a week at their vacation home deep in the country. When they arrive during a severe storm, they find they’re not alone. Marci, a young male wolf in trouble with his pack, has taken refuge in their house. Rather than toss him out in the storm, they invite him to stay and become deeply involved with this handsome wolf who is much more than what he first appears to be.
Chapter One Muscles rippled beneath Marci’s shaggy reddish-brown coat. The mud felt cool and slick against his feet and the aroma of the forest teased his sensitive nose. Hunting was his favorite pastime. Stalking through the woods in his beast form, tracking and chasing his prey exactly like his ancestors had done, made him feel a deep connection to his wolf roots. Times had changed since the days when his grandfather and great-grandfather had ruled the forests. In many ways modern wolves were so much like Vampires that if not for the scent, one could hardly tell them apart. His keen ears detected the trickle of water through the trees and he followed the sound. Soon he came upon a brook and paused for a drink. He followed the brook a short distance then squatted by a small pool of calm water surrounded by rocks. Looking at himself, he smiled, exposing his pointed white teeth. Few things felt better than roaming about in wolf form. It wasn’t terribly different from being in man form -wolves walked on two legs and had clawed fingers rather than paws like the beautiful beasts they were named for. Yet the slight alterations -- elongated facial features, a shaggy pelt and most of all the rush of energy that accompanied the change -- provided an indescribable sensation that no other creature could ever understand, least of all Vampires. Maybe it was his almost obsessive love for his race that had given him the strength and the will to win the battle for leadership of his pack just a few months ago. When their old leader had died with no offspring to succeed him, three wolves stepped forward to fight for the coveted position. Marci had been the youngest and least experienced of the three, but he came from hunter bloodlines. His father and his grandfather had both served as personal guards to previous leaders, and Marci had

already followed in their footsteps by joining the guard. He also followed pack politics very closely and was a strong supporter of the old ways. Not that he didn’t approve of keeping good relations with Vampires. On the contrary he considered them valuable allies, but to him a happy coexistence with Vampires didn’t mean wolves should lose their identity. Many in his pack, in particular common wolves, agreed with his views. Others, mostly the wealthier wolves who profited greatly from business ventures with Vampires, disliked having Marci as their leader. Several prominent pack members, including his cousin, Lemar, another challenger for leadership, had been trying to discredit him, saying he was too young and hot-tempered to be a good leader. Marci knew he had much to learn, but he had selected a group of older wolves who shared his views about preserving werewolf customs to advise him. Already he and his team had implemented changes that seemed to have strengthened his pack. He detected the scent of other wolves and stood to greet them only to be knocked into the water by a bullet to his shoulder. Growling in pain and rage, he glanced at the wound. No wolf worth his teeth, even in this modern age, ever brought guns on a hunt. It was an unspoken rule that wolves either hunted with tooth and claw or didn’t hunt at all. Another shot rang out, but this time Marci was already moving through the trees. Still, it nicked his ear and he felt blood flow hot against his furred neck. He ground his teeth and growled again, picking up speed while he could, before the shoulder wound rendered him too weak to continue. By the severe burning sensation he knew he’d been struck by silver bullets. Obviously someone in his pack had decided to use the hunt as an assassination attempt and though he had no proof, he sensed Lemar was responsible. Pausing a moment, he stood, panting hard and glancing from left to right. He had only two options -- left to the canyon or right to the waterfall. When another shot just missed his head, he decided quickly and turned right. Since the canyon was barren,

he would be an easy target, but if he dove into the waterfall, he would be washed miles downriver, eliminating his scent from his pursuers. His long, powerful legs propelled him through the woods, and when he reached the enormous waterfall he resisted the urge to stop in his tracks. The roaring water could very well drown him, however his attackers were sure to kill him with their guns and silver bullets. The weapons of cowards. Without hesitation he leapt into the rushing water and prayed to the moon gods he would survive to lead his pack and seek revenge on these treasonous assassins.
*** Hail pelted the windshield of Floris and Bastian’s car. From the passenger seat, Floris glanced at her husband of two centuries and said, “Shouldn’t you slow down? This weather is brutal.” “If I go any slower I’ll be backing down the street, love,” Bastian replied, a teasing note in his voice. He was such a charming Vampire -- generally even-tempered, pleasant to everyone and extremely intelligent when dealing with people. Sometimes she believed he could talk a starving werewolf away from a steak dinner. Not to mention he was incredibly handsome -- tall and athletic with large blue eyes, long black hair and lips that begged to be kissed. Still, she had been with him long enough to prevent him from charming her off the subject at hand. She continued, “Don’t look at me when you argue. Keep your eyes on the road. A Vampire can die in a car accident just like anyone else. Remember what happened to Anton Sylas.” Bastian raised his thickly-lashed eyes to the heavens and said, “He was murdered.” “It still happened in a car.” “Floris, please. I thought when we progressed from horse-drawn carriages to cars you would stop complaining about my driving.” “Horse-drawn carriages didn’t go as fast as cars.”

“Love, why don’t you turn on the radio? It might distract you from the road, plus we might hear the weather report.” “Why do we need a weather report? We can see the hail and by the way we’re skidding, the road is covered with ice. If this keeps up, we’ll be stuck in the cottage for days.” Bastian glanced at her from the corner of his eye, a sexy expression on his face. “Yes and I’ll make sure we enjoy every moment.” In spite of herself, Floris grinned, a giddy, passionate feeling darting through her. Bastian had always made her feel that way -- sexy, feminine, and happy. From the moment they’d met she knew they were meant to be together. Originally, their parents had arranged for them to marry other Vampires. Through careful manipulation, they convinced their families to approve of a marriage to each other. Their parents still believed the arrangement was their idea. Floris and Bastian had shared many a laugh when they thought about it. Most young Vampires either went along with their arranged marriages or made loud, uncouth protests and turned their backs on family and fortune for the sake of love. Floris and Bastian found that using intelligence to get what they wanted was much less stressful and far more profitable. “Floris, the radio,” Bastian said. With a sigh, she turned it on in the middle of a news report. “The severe ice storm continues to rage in the northern Silvertree Territory, northeast Wingedpaw territory, and southern Browntoe Pack land. The tribal leader of Silvertree and pack leaders of Browntoe and Wingedpaw have declared states of emergency and everyone is advised to stay indoors. All hunts south of the Bloodrock River have been cancelled and Main Road 52 has been shut down. “ Again Floris glanced worriedly at Bastian and said, “52 is the only road out of here.” “I know. It seems we just made it past the tollbooth.”

“I wish we hadn’t. Then we would be back home in the city instead of stranded out here.” He touched her knee gently and said, “Don’t worry. Soon we’ll be perfectly safe at the cottage and trust me when I say I’ll get your mind off the weather. You are going to have the best birthday of your life. It’s not every day a woman turns three-hundred and --” “You don’t have to remind me!” she snapped. “You know as well as I do a Vampiress gains no respect until she reaches at least five-hundred.” He gave a snort of laughter. “That’s not true.” “Isn’t it?” “I don’t care how young or old you are. You’re the sexiest most charming Vampiress I’ve ever known.” “Stop it, Bastian, or you’ll make me fall in love with you all over again.” “I’m doing my best.” They fell silent for a moment and listened as the newscaster continued, “The search has been called off for the Browntoe Pack Leader, Marci Rainy, who disappeared during a hunting accident three days ago. It has been confirmed that the blood and fur samples discovered by his guards do belong to Rainy, the youngest leader ever to take control of the Browntoe Pack. Witnesses reported that during the hunt Marci was attacked and killed by an oversized bear and his body disappeared down the largest cascade on Browntoe territory. Marci’s cousin, Lemar Rainy, has taken control of the Browntoe pack and has ordered the search for Marci’s body to continue once the ice storm has passed.” Floris switched off the radio. “How sad for such a young wolf to die like that.” Bastian shrugged. “It is tragic, but I can’t say I approved of Marci Rainy’s political views. He seemed to harbor extreme prejudice against Vampires.” “I don’t think so,” Floris said. “He just wanted equality for his people. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

“There is if it means trouble with Vampire and werewolf business ventures, especially since most of those ventures involve our tribe. We’re right on the border of Browntoe land.” “I know you enjoy being rich, Bastian, but is money more important than people being treated fairly?” He shot her a look of surprise and irritation. “You would say that to me of all people?” Among Vampires, Bastian was considered liberal to the extreme. He’d been a mere fifty years old when he’d gone against his family’s wishes and enlisted in the military -- virtually unheard of for a Vampire of his bloodline. A decade later he served in their tribe’s special forces unit and after eighty years of service switched to a medical unit and became a doctor. When he and Floris decided to settle down, he left the service and began a private practice in the city. He also donated his time to a free clinic for the underprivileged. To say that money meant more to him than equality was an unfair statement and one she already regretted. She placed a hand to the back of his neck and said, “I’m sorry. That wasn’t what I meant.” “I’m not just talking about money,” Bastian continued. “Problems with the alliance could lead to violence. I’m a doctor, Floris, and I was a soldier. Seeing wolves and Vampires killing each other bothers me a lot.” “Do you really think it will come to violence between us?” “It’s happened before. What about that wolf rebellion Lady Altah and the pack leaders had to deal with less than a year ago?” “The wolves in the rebellion made some good points.” “I’m not saying they didn’t. I just --” He stopped speaking and she screamed as their car spun on the ice. Luckily Bastian’s quick maneuvers and cool head enabled him to regain control of the car. “Are you all right?” he asked Floris.

“Yes. You?”
“I’m fine.”
“Good. Now I can yell at you.”
He closed his eyes and sighed. “Please don’t.”
“Then drive more carefully!”
“It will be easier if you be quiet.”
“Fine.” She clenched her teeth and stared out the window, her heart still
pounding in fear after their spinout. All she wanted was to get to their cottage, start a fire in their bedroom hearth and climb naked into bed with her husband. The problem was, the way Bastian drove she wasn’t sure they’d actually reach their destination in one piece. He straightened the car and continued down the icy road. “Maybe this will take your mind off the weather.” He removed a hand from the wheel and she nearly yelled at him, but her curiosity got the better of her when he removed a small wrapped package from the inside pocket of his coat. “Happy birthday, love.” She smiled and took the package. “Thank you, sweetheart. Now put both hands on the wheel.” Raising his eyes to the heavens, he did as she asked. Floris unwrapped the package and opened the jewelry box inside, revealing a blood red ruby suspended from a fine gold chain. “Oh, Bastian, it’s beautiful.” “Not as beautiful as the throat that will wear it.” Warmth flooded her and she leaned closer to him and kissed his cheek. She took the necklace from the box and put it on. A short time later, they finally saw their vacation home in the distance -- a lovely white cottage with pink shutters and a stone front. It had been their wedding gift to each other centuries ago, and they had made sure the place was regularly renovated. Though it still retained its old-world charm, it had all the modern conveniences, including an enlarged bathroom with a gorgeous sunken tub. Floris imagined herself

neck-deep in hot, sudsy water, candles flickering around the edge of the tub and tall, sleek Bastian sinking down beside her and gathering her in his arms. “Finally,” she sighed once he’d stopped the car in the snowy driveway. “Let’s hurry and unload the car,” he said. “And get a fire started.” They each grabbed bags out of the trunk and approached the house slowly, so as not to slip on the ice. Partway there, Floris said, “Bastian, stop a moment. Do you smell that?” He paused beside her and inhaled deeply. His eyes widened and he said, “Wolf scent. Injured.” “And nearby,” she added. “Actually… is there a light on in our kitchen?” He approached the house. When she followed, he said, “Stay back. Someone is in there.” “I’ll call the authorities --” “Shh!” He put down the bags he’d been carrying and walked toward the front door. Sliding on the ice, Floris caught up to him. “You can’t go in there! We don’t know who that wolf is.” “Where do you suggest we go? It’s almost morning. The roads are closed and we’re miles from civilization. No doubt he stopped here because he was injured and had nowhere to go.” “Bastian!”
“Go back to the car.”
“No.”
“I said --”
Before they could finish, the door opened. A tall young wolf with reddish brown
hair in disarray and his face flushed with fever stared at them with bleary gray eyes. “Who are you?” he demanded. “We live here, that’s who we are,” Bastian said. “Who the hell are you?”

“Bastian! He’s injured.” Floris nodded toward the wolf’s crudely bandaged shoulder. “I can see that,” Bastian snapped. “And it looks like he used my shirt to dress the wound. And he’s wearing my night pants!” “I’m sorry,” the wolf continued rather weakly. In truth, he looked about ready to collapse. “This was the only house around when I --” He lurched forward and Bastian caught him before he fell onto the porch. “Come on,” Bastian said, helping their unwanted guest inside. “Bastian, put him on the couch. I’ll get a sheet to cover it,” Floris said, not wishing to sound callous but not wanting blood all over her white couch. She hurried toward the master bath where she kept the fresh linen, noting that the heat and lights were working in the cottage -- most likely due to the generator. She got no further than the bedroom before she wrinkled her nose in disgust upon seeing bloodstained, rumpled sheets on their oversized bed. “Bastian! Get him off the couch and bring him in here. The bed is already ruined.” A moment later, Bastian helped the wolf onto the bed. “What’s your name?” Bastian asked. “Mar…Martin,” he said, grunting softly in pain as he tried to find a comfortable position. “Well, Martin, I’m a doctor. I’m going to help you. Floris, go to the car and get my medical bag,” Bastian ordered. Whenever they traveled this far into the country, Bastian brought medical supplies in case of an emergency. She nodded and headed for the door. “So, Martin, what happened to you?” Bastian asked. “I was on a hunt about three days ago and was shot. A silver bullet. It’s still in my shoulder. That’s why I haven’t regenerated.”

Floris paused before leaving the room and said, “I didn’t think wolves used guns on a hunt.” “We don’t,” he replied. “Not only haven’t you regenerated, but I can already tell you have quite an infection,” Bastian said. “We need to get rid of that silver. Floris, hurry up with the bag.” She did as her husband asked and when she returned, Bastian had already removed their guest’s bandage, revealing a nasty shoulder wound. “I’m going to need your help, Floris,” he said. She wrinkled her nose. “I hope I’ll do more good than harm. You know me, Bastian. Drinking blood is one thing, but I’m a wimp when it comes to anything medical.” “Just do what I say and you’ll be fine.” Turning to Martin, she said, “The wolf pack nearest here is the Browntoe Pack. You must have been part of the hunt in which their pack leader was killed.” The wolf’s eyes snapped open. “Where did you hear that?” “It’s all over the news,” Bastian said. “I see,” Martin sighed deeply and momentarily closed his eyes. “Who has assumed leadership?” “Lemar Rainy.” Martin growled deep in his chest. No doubt he was in a lot of pain. Floris’ stomach clenched. In spite of his condition, he was attractive for a wolf. Most of them were too animalistic, even in their man form, for Floris’ taste, but there was something compelling about Martin. Like Bastian, he was tall and lean. Once he regained his health and shaved off that straggly beard, no doubt he would be quite handsome. She didn’t have much time to ponder such superficial thoughts. All too soon she was helping Bastian as he dug the silver bullet out of Martin’s infected shoulder. She glanced away briefly from the disgusting procedure and noticed some pink scarring on one of Martin’s ears.

She commented on it and Bastian said, “I noticed that. Looks like it might be another bullet wound. He really should be in a hospital.” “The weather is worse than ever. I doubt we could get him there.” “Not to mention the phone lines are dead, so we can’t call for help. We’ll just have to hope that once I get this bullet out, he’s not too weak to regenerate on his own.” “I still don’t understand how he got shot on a hunt. Do you think he was telling the truth?” “I’m not sure, but we’ll worry about that later. Sorry this isn’t the birthday we had planned, love.” “It’s not your fault. Besides, if we didn’t come here, this wolf might have died.” “Quite likely,” Bastian said, his voice faint as he concentrated fully on his task. Once he’d removed the bullet, stitched and bandaged the wound, he and Floris cleaned up the mess. “He’ll probably be out for another hour or so,” Bastian said. “We’ll take turns in the shower so we can keep an eye on him.” Floris wrinkled her nose. “Good idea. I don’t know how you do this kind of work all the time, Bastian.” “You get used to it. Besides, when I was in the service we performed surgery under worse conditions than this. I still can’t believe how much medicine has improved over the past few centuries.” After they washed and changed into comfortable clothes, Floris made tea and sandwiches and they ate at the breakfast table in the master bedroom. “This really ruins your birthday plans,” Bastian said again. “It’s all right.” She reached across the table and squeezed his hand. “Saving a life is more important.” “Once his fever is down we can steal a few minutes alone and I’ll give you at least some of your second present,” he said, a lustful glimmer in his eyes. “Mmm,” she purred and rose from her seat. He pulled her onto his lap and she spoke against his lips, “It’s a date.”

Bastian kissed her rather forcefully yet with tenderness. That sort of kiss was usually a prelude to hot and heavy sex. Bastian certainly looked the part of a rich, refined Vampire, but he had always possessed an underlying ruggedness that made Floris’ libido go wild. She changed her position, straddling him so her clit rubbed against the hard, arousing bulge in his pants. His arms tightened around her and she wove her fingers through his hair as she rocked against him. Her pulse quickened, and her clit buzzed and ached. It felt so good being in his arms. Their previous conversation had stirred memories of their early years together, before they were wed. He’d been away on assignments in the military and she had missed him so much. Remembering the intimate ways they’d celebrate his homecomings made her heart flutter. When the kiss broke, she brushed her cheek against his and whispered in his ear, “I love you, Bastian. I love you so much.” “I love you too --” He began, but their moment was interrupted by a groan from their guest. Floris climbed off of Bastian and followed him to the bed where he checked the wolf. “How is he?” Floris asked. “His fever is down,” Bastian said, running the back of his hand down the wolf’s chiseled cheek. “He’s starting to wake up now.” Floris glanced from her husband to the wolf and back again. A strange feeling tightened the pit of her stomach -- part jealousy, part curiosity and part arousal. “Handsome, isn’t he?” she asked. Bastian shrugged, though his gaze didn’t leave the young wolf’s face. “Come on, Bastian. I remember all your lovers from before we got married. As I recall I was one of the few females.” Now he turned to her, desire and affection in his eyes. “Well, you’re the only lover I’ve ever truly loved. Does that make sense?”

“Yes.” She smiled and took his face in her hands. “Because it was the same for me.” She was about to kiss him again, but noticed Martin’s eyes had opened partway. “Bastian,” she said, glancing toward the wolf. Bastian turned to him and said, “How are you feeling?” “All right,” Martin replied softly. He licked his lips and shifted position slightly. “Better.” “Would you like something to drink?” Bastian asked. “Water. Please.” “I’ll get it,” Floris said and walked away.
Chapter Two Bastian glanced at Floris as she stepped out of the bedroom. To him she was more beautiful than ever. He couldn’t remember a time when she wasn’t part of his life. It wasn’t surprising that his childhood companion had turned into his first love. He never had any intention of spending his life with anyone else, no matter what his family had said. If he’d been forced to run away with her, he would have. However, they had found manipulation of their manipulative relatives easier than they thought and much more profitable. They had been a far better match for each other than the partners chosen by their parents. No one knew him better than Floris. She was, of course, correct about him finding Martin attractive. He also knew she was just as aroused by the young wolf. He remembered the sort of men she had shared blood with in her youth. Sometimes during their marriage they had shared blood with third partners. Luckily they had similar taste. He wondered briefly how this wolf felt about Vampires? Maybe once he recovered they could -Now wasn’t the time to think about it. Martin’s eyes had closed again and he’d drifted back to sleep. It would take a while for the drugs to wear off. Bastian had also given him a painkiller and antibiotics. That combined with the excellent regenerative powers of his species should speed along the wolf’s recovery. Bastian guessed in a day or two he would be back on his feet. Floris returned with a glass of water and Bastian placed a hand on Martin’s shoulder. Though lean, the wolf had rock-hard muscles. Bastian generally preferred Vampires, but there was something undeniably attractive about this particular wolf. Martin opened his eyes, though it took a moment for him to focus.

“Drink some of this,” Bastian said, holding the water to his lips.
The wolf took several sips.
“Are you comfortable enough?” Floris asked.
“Yes.” He glanced at her. “Thank you. Both of you.”
“Just get some rest,” Bastian said.
The wolf nodded slightly and moments later fell back to sleep.
Bastian stood and placed his hands on Floris’ shoulders. “He’ll be fine. Just let
him rest for a while. In the meantime…” Smiling slightly, he bent and kissed her. “There’s something we need to do in the den.” She wrinkled her nose and narrowed her beautiful blue eyes. “The den?” “Yes. I think you’ll enjoy it. I know I will.” “Sounds interesting.” She slipped her arms around his neck. “Care to give me a hint?” He reached behind her, grasped her gorgeous ass and squeezed. Floris grinned and headed for the door. Glancing one last time at their guest to make sure he was still resting comfortably, Bastian followed her out of the room.
The den was Floris’ favorite room in the cottage. It had an elegant oak desk with a wall of books behind it. Across the room was a large stone fireplace, two comfortable leather chairs and a matching, oversized couch. The room gave her a warm, cozy feeling she loved. When they stepped into the den, Bastian closed the door behind them, grasped her arm and tugged her so close her breasts pressed against his lean, hard chest. He nuzzled her neck then licked it and grazed the sensitive flesh with his fangs. She moaned softly and held him tighter. “All I’ve thought about for the whole trip was making love with you,” she said. He chuckled softly and kissed her neck. “Really? And I thought all you could think about was backseat driving.”

She playfully pushed him away and walked toward the hearth. “You think you’re going to insult me and then make love to me?” she teased. He strode toward her, dropped to his knees in front of her and began covering her hands with kisses. “I’m sorry, love,” he said, not looking sorry in the least. Instead his eyes gleamed with a lust that she found irresistible. “I know a way that’s sure to make up for my bad manners.” “We’ll see,” she said. He rose to his feet and began building a fire. Meanwhile Floris spread a soft red blanket over the couch and undressed. She released her hair from where it was bound at the back of her neck and ran her fingers through it before she stretched out, naked, on the blanket. Bastian turned to her, his eyes still aglow with desire. By the size of the bulge in his pants, he was as ready to make love as she was. She could scarcely wait to feel his bare skin pressed to hers and taste his delicious blood on her tongue. He pulled off his sweater, revealing the lean, smooth chest she’d always admired. Bastian had an athletic build but wasn’t overly muscled. He moved with a strength and grace that never failed to arouse her. Floris watched hungrily as he removed his pants, boots and socks. He squatted beside her and stroked her face, then traced her ruby necklace with his fingertip and whispered against her lips, “Happy birthday.” He covered her mouth in a deep, tender kiss. Floris clutched the back of his head and closed her eyes, lost in sensation. Bastian caressed her breasts and belly, then slid his hand between her legs and stroked. “Sit up,” he ordered and guided her to a sitting position. Her body alive with desire, she followed his lead, knowing he never disappointed her. Kneeling in front of her, he guided her legs over his shoulders and began licking and sucking her clit. Floris gasped and moaned, enjoying every swipe of his hot, wet tongue and the teasing tips of his fangs gently raking her most sensitive flesh.

“Bastian,” she whispered. “This is my favorite present.” He chuckled softly and swirled his tongue inside her, then began flicking it relentlessly over her clit. Within seconds she came, panting and writhing. Bastian held her hips steady so he could lick and suck until she lay still and completely satisfied. Then he swept her into his arms and carried her to the rug in front of the hearth. She clung to him weakly, still relaxed from her intense orgasm, a satisfied smile on her lips. Yet when he covered her body with his and she felt the tip of his cock pushing into her drenched pussy, she reawakened and spread her legs, eager to accept him. Her hands clutched his broad shoulders and she arched her head back, giving him access to her neck. He took full advantage of the invitation. At the same moment he thrust his cock fully inside her, he sank his fangs into her neck. His bite felt so good, as did the rhythmic thrusts of his long, thick cock. Groaning with pleasure, he lapped her blood, then withdrew his fangs from her neck and bit her shoulder. In this position she could easily bite his shoulder as well and she didn’t hesitate to do so. Clinging to him tightly, she matched his rhythm. Her legs locked around his waist and she came again. Moments later he joined her, his body straining into hers. Finally he rolled onto his side and draped an arm over her waist. They rested for several moments, then decided to retire for the day. While she prepared the small guest room for them to sleep in, Bastian checked on his patient. “He’s fine,” Bastian said, climbing into bed and tugging her into his arms. “Good.” She closed her eyes and sighed. It would have been more comfortable in their big bed, but there was something nice about being this close to Bastian, with nowhere to turn but into his arms.
*** The following evening, Bastian woke later than expected. He washed and dressed then went to check their guest but found the wolf was already up. He and Floris were seated at the table enjoying breakfast, talking and laughing together.

Jealousy and curiosity shot through Bastian. Unlike most Vampiresses, Floris didn’t flirt unless she was interested in someone. He saw the glimmer in her eyes as she talked to Martin and also noted she wore her long black hair down. It draped her like a silken cloak and accentuated her pale, smooth skin and lovely blue eyes. By the way their guest was looking at her, he also appreciated her beauty. “Bastian,” Floris said, turning her radiant smile in his direction. She stood, slipped her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. “Good evening. Breakfast is ready. I’ll get you some.” “Thanks.” He squeezed her gently then released her. She walked to the kitchen and he glanced at Martin. The wolf’s smile faded a bit and he tilted his head slightly to the side, an unreadable expression on his handsome face. “Hello, Bastian,” he said. “Thank you again for your help.” “You’re welcome,” Bastian said rather coolly. He noticed Martin was wearing one of his shirts and a pair of his trousers -- most likely supplied by Floris. “Let me have a look at your shoulder to see how it’s healing.” “Of course.” The wolf’s gray eyes remained fixed on Bastian as he unbuttoned the shirt. He had a primal sexiness that made Bastian’s Vampiric heart beat faster. The aroma of desire from all three was strong. In his gut Bastian knew if he, Floris and Martin were trapped together for a few days, their lust would explode. Martin shrugged off the shirt and Bastian examined his shoulder, noting it had already begun to heal quite well. The regeneration process would soon be complete. His thoughts drifted and his fingertips strayed over the muscular curve of the wolf’s shoulder. Then he became aware of his actions and dropped his hand, again glancing into Martin’s curious, aroused gaze.

Floris approached with a plate of food for Bastian and paused a moment, looking from one man to the other. “Is everything all right?’ she asked, a knowing look in her eyes. “Yes,” they replied simultaneously and exchanged glances. Martin stood. “I’m a little tired. If it’s all right I’m going to get some rest. This shoulder --” “Good idea,” Bastian said. “With a little more rest you’ll be completely healed.” “I’ll move to the couch,” Martin said. “I’ve already taken your bed for too long.” “Nonsense,” Floris told him before Bastian could speak. He could hardly wait to stretch out in his own bed again, yet she was right. Martin was injured, and at the moment he needed to rest comfortably more than Bastian did. “Go back to bed,” she continued. “Bastian and I won’t be using it tonight.” Bastian lifted an eyebrow. “We’ll probably be spending quite a lot of time in the den,” Floris said with a smile. Chuckling, Bastian, took her hand and tugged her close. “Quite right. Actually I think I’ll take my breakfast in there. I have some reading to catch up on.” “I’ll join you in a few minutes,” she said. “There are some things I have to take care of in the kitchen first.”
*** In the kitchen, Floris smiled as she boiled another kettle for tea. She thought about yesterday when she and Bastian made love in the den and could hardly wait for a repeat performance. A short time later, she stepped into the den and found Bastian seated on the couch, several newspapers beside him. He’d been too busy this past week to do much reading and he’d been looking forward to catching up. Other than the arts section, Floris rarely read the paper. News was always so depressing. “I made us some tea,” she said, placing the tray on the coffee table.

“Floris,” Bastian said quietly.
“Yes?”
“Do you know what Marci Rainy looks like?”
“Don’t you mean looked?” she asked. “He’s dead, remember?”
“Just answer the question.”
“Not really. He hardly ever appeared in public in his man form. He preferred to
wear his wolf form. I think it was some kind of statement about werewolf culture.” “Well here’s one of those rare photos of him in man form.” Bastian held out his paper to her. “This paper came out the day after he disappeared on the hunt.” She glanced at the picture, then curled her lip and stared harder. “He looks like Martin.” He raised his eyes to the heavens. “That’s because it is Martin.” “The news said Rainy had been mauled by a bear. Martin has bullet wounds.” “From silver bullets,” Bastian said. “Silver is a sure way to kill their kind or our kind. I’ve been sitting here putting the pieces together and I think the hunt was a cover for an assassination attempt against Marci Rainy.” A horrible feeling twisted Floris’ belly. “You think so?” “It makes sense. Everyone knows his cousin, Lemar, wanted control of their pack and many people believed that during their fight for leadership, Marci should have killed him instead of sparing his life. That act of mercy might have come back to haunt him.” “If that’s the truth, what should we do? And why didn’t he tell us who he is?” “Why should he trust us? For all he knows we might have tried to finish him off. Lots of Vampires have a problem with him due to his stand on werewolf rights.” “We need to let him know that’s not true of us,” she said and turned to leave the room. Bastian grasped her arm. “Wait. We must handle this carefully.” She nodded and together they walked to the bedroom.

Marci was stretched out on the bed, his eyes closed. He lay on top of the covers, one well-muscled arm flung over his head, and he wore nothing but his trousers and an unbuttoned shirt. Again she thought how cute he was. She could scarcely believe this personable wolf was the leader of the Browntoe pack. “He’s asleep, Bastian. We’ll talk to him later.” “No. I’m awake,” Martin said, opening his eyes and sitting up. His gaze switched from one to the other and his scent grew stronger, more aroused. Bastian’s scent also reflected his passion. Floris’ desire leapt into overdrive as she fantasized about Martin -or Marci -- joining her and Bastian for sex and blood play. “What did you want to talk about?” Martin asked. “I’ll be out of your way soon -” “That’s not it,” Bastian said. “Good, because I’m hoping there’s some way I can repay you for your help before I go.” “That’s not necessary,” Bastian continued. “But it would be my honor.” He took a step closer to Bastian, his gray eyes fixed on the Vampire’s blue ones. “Honor is important to my kind.” “Vampires understand honor very well,” Bastian stated, appearing cool and collected though Floris knew him well enough to detect the hint of annoyance in the way he lifted his chin and straightened his already proud stance. “I’m sure you do.” “Is that an insult?” “Gentlemen, please.” Floris placed her hands on their chests. She turned to Martin and said, “What did you have in mind?” A roguish smile touched his lips and he stepped away to remove his shirt. The muscles in his powerful chest flexed and Floris’ Vampiric lust got the better of her. Her gaze followed the pattern of hair down his flat belly to the waistband of his pants. She’d loaned him the pants from Bastian’s closet. Bastian was about as tall as the wolf, but

slimmer, so the pants hugged the thick muscles of Martin -- Marci’s -- long legs and accentuated the pleasing bulge of his crotch. He stepped closer to the Vampires and said, “If you would accept it, I’d like to share my blood with you.” “I’m not sure that’s a good idea,” Bastian said, though Floris didn’t miss the desire in his eyes. “You lost a lot of blood due to your wound.” “I’m almost healed,” Martin replied. “My regenerative powers have always been strong, even for a wolf. But I realize you might not want my blood because some people don’t believe our species should mingle, unless of course wolves are serving as guards or servants to Vampires.” “We’re not like that,” Floris said, placing a hand on Bastian’s shoulder. Already she saw irritation on his face, almost overshadowing his desire. “Good,” the wolf said. “To be honest, I’ve never shared blood with Vampires.” “Then have you made your offer out of gratitude or curiosity?” Bastian asked, narrowing his eyes. Tilting his head slightly to the side, the wolf said, “Does it matter?” “Yes, it does,” Bastian stated coolly. Floris’ gaze swept from her husband to the wolf. The tension and arousal between them was almost tangible and she wondered what the outcome of this game would be. Also why did Bastian want to play before asking Martin about his true identity? She decided to go along with him. Besides, she could scarcely wait for them to act out her threesome fantasy. “Both reasons,” Martin finally admitted.
“Then we accept,” Bastian told him.
The wolf’s gorgeous chest expanded as he drew a deep breath.
“You’re sure you’re up to this?” Floris asked.
Martin placed a hand to the back of her head and his other to the back of
Bastian’s. His touch was warm, rough yet gentle. So wolfish. “I’m definitely up to

sharing blood, and more. “ He kissed Bastian then Floris. She closed her eyes briefly, enjoying the feel of his firm, moist lips and the slight tickle of his wiry reddish beard. When the kiss broke, Bastian and Floris exchanged glances and smiled. Each knew exactly what the other was thinking. They slid down Marci’s body, licking and kissing his chest and muscle-ridged belly. They didn’t stop there, but sank to their knees while pulling down his pants. Bastian raked his fingers over the wolf’s hard, hair-dusted thighs while Floris curled her fist around his cock and flicked its tip with her tongue. Marci growled with pleasure and grasped a handful of her hair, his fingers massaging her scalp. “I’m starting to really like Vampires,” he breathed. Bastian chuckled softly and stood. Still sucking Marci’s cock, Floris lifted her gaze and saw Bastian run his fangs across the wolf’s pecs. Marci cupped the back of Bastian’s neck and guided the Vampire’s face to his for a kiss. The sight of two gorgeous men kissing thrilled Floris, making her heart race and her pussy ache with need. She caught the scent of Marci’s blood and knew Bastian had taken a taste from the wolf’s full, sexy lips. This aroused Floris so much that she couldn’t resist a nip as well. Using the tip of her fang, she gently pierced Marci’s cock head. He howled with pleasure-pain and his already thick cock swelled even more. His body stiffened and his hips rocked as she sucked harder upon him. By the sound of his ragged breathing and the tension in his body, he was about to come at any moment. Clutching the root of his cock, she pulled her mouth away. Bastian also stepped aside and undressed. Marci gazed down at Floris and the desire in his lovely gray eyes weakened her so much that she struggled to keep from sucking him to climax then and there.

“Come here,” Marci said, his voice so deep and husky that it was almost a growl. He bent, grasped her shoulders and guided her to her feet. Then he picked her up and carried her to the bed. “Maybe you shouldn’t lift me. You’re still recovering,” she reminded him. “I feel great.” He placed her on the bed and covered her body with his. Marci nuzzled her neck. His beard tickled her and she laughed and squirmed. He slid a hand between them and fondled her soft mound. Floris arched against him, loving the sensation of his rough, wolfish palm against her soft flesh. He dipped his fingers inside her and explored while rolling his thumb over her clit. Bastian joined them on the bed, running his hands over both his wife and their new lover. He squeezed Marci’s taut ass and gently pinched Floris’ nipples in a way that always drove her wild. Then Marci filled her with a long, slow thrust. His cock was shorter than Bastian’s and a bit thicker, but she soon became accustomed to its feel and moaned, clinging to him passionately. Just before she closed her eyes, she saw Bastian run his tongue down Marci’s spine then sink his fangs into one of the wolf’s gorgeous ass cheeks. The aroma of blood and lust filled the room and Floris could hold back no longer, She bit Marci’s shoulder, sipping his delectable blood as he drove them both to climax. At the final moment, she released his shoulder and cried out in ecstasy. The wolf howled with pleasure then collapsed onto the bed beside her. Bastian, still licking Marci’s blood from his lips, stretched out on her other side. “That was quite enjoyable, Marci,” Bastian said. The wolf lifted his head from Floris’ breast. His eyes widened for a moment, then he asked, “How long have you known?” “The question should be, why didn’t you tell us sooner?” Floris asked.

“Because I wasn’t sure if I could trust you. Since you didn’t seem to recognize me, I thought it best to keep it that way.” “You didn’t think we’d recognize the leader of a pack that borders our territory?” Bastian demanded. “Since I rarely appear in public in my man form, no I didn’t. I thought that like most Vampires you’d go on the vulgar assumption that in our wolf form you can’t tell us apart.” Floris and Bastian exchanged glances and she wondered if she looked as sheepish as she felt. “Was it your cousin who tried to kill you?” Bastian asked. “I assume so,” Martin replied. “Especially now that I know he has claimed leadership. I didn’t see the wolves who shot me and I didn’t recognize their scent as wolves I personally know. They must have been hired assassins. Also I doubt Lemar has really called off the search for me. Until he knows for sure I’m dead, his position isn’t secure.” “What do you plan to do?” Bastian asked. “It’s too dangerous for me to return to my pack territory on my own. I’ll probably be killed before I reach safety. No doubt Lemar has placed wolves who are loyal to him along our pack’s borders.” “Once the weather clears, we can take you to our tribal leader’s council building,” Bastian said. “Your whereabouts can be announced publicly and you can be returned to your pack safely.” “I’m sorry, but I don’t trust the Vampire government. For all I know, my cousin is in league with your tribal leader. It’s common knowledge that he doesn’t like the changes I’ve asked for regarding the treaty and business ventures between our territories.” “Just because you have a difference of opinion doesn’t mean he was part of an assassination attempt,” Bastian stated. “No, but it is a possibility. At this time I’d be a fool to believe otherwise.”

“For someone who hates Vampires so much, you certainly seemed to enjoy yourself with us,” Floris said. “I never said I hated Vampires. I just don’t like how many of you consider my kind inferior.” “A political battle here and now won’t help us,” Bastian stated. “And Marci might have a point. He needs to know the facts before he can trust anyone. Tell us what you want to do, Marci. How can we help you return safely to your pack?” “The Wingedpaw Pack territory touches the eastern border of your tribe’s territory. Leader Temple and I are on good terms. We share many of the same views regarding our species. If I can get to Wingedpaw territory, I can enlist his aid in taking back my rightful place as leader of my pack.” “The roads are all closed due to the storm,” Floris said. “I can travel through the forest.” “Not until you’re fully recovered,” Bastian stated. “Besides, there’s a good chance you’d freeze to death out there, even in your wolf form. Stay here with us for a few more days. By then you’ll be completely regenerated and the communication lines might even be back up so you can call for help directly. If all else fails, when the roads open I’ll drive you to Wingedpaw territory.” Marci’s jaw tightened visibly. Floris knew that to a young, powerful wolf seeking vengeance waiting was almost unbearable. Placing a hand to his cheek, she said, “What Bastian said makes sense. Impulsive actions can be a mistake. Besides, will it be so bad spending a little more time with us? Think of it as… a cultural exchange.” The wolf snorted with laughter and squeezed her bare ass. “If you put it that way.” She smiled and kissed him. The wolf growled softly and stretched, then settled more comfortably on the bed. Marci must have been more tired from his injury than he believed because he fell asleep almost immediately.

Floris and Bastian weren’t tired, so careful not to disturb Marci, they slipped out of the bed, pulled on their robes and walked to the den. Bastian lit a fire and they cuddled on the couch. “What do you think of him?” she asked quietly. He lifted an eyebrow, a lustful look in his eyes. “He’s delicious.” “Bastian!” She playfully slapped his lean, hard thigh. “That’s not what I meant.” “Well, he’s got courage because he’s not willing to back down from his position even though an attempt was made on his life. He’s young and fiery, but intelligent enough to formulate a decent plan before rushing back into danger.” “Do you still think he’s trying to ruin relations between our species?” “I never said that. I just said his ideas for reform will stir trouble.” “That isn’t always a bad thing,” she ventured. “If both species promote understanding, there’s nothing we can’t do together. If we could only remember that, we’d be all right.”
Chapter Three Marci leaned against the wall outside the door to the den. He’d awakened when his lovers left the bed but hadn’t decided to follow them until the faint scent of wolves touched his nose. Wolf senses were more acute than those of Vampires, so he doubted Bastian and Floris knew they were being stalked. Or what if they did? They lived close to the Browntoe border. Was it possible they were on Lemar’s side, or was he becoming paranoid? There was only one way to find out. He left the bed and followed their voices to the den. By the sound of their conversation, they were just what he’d suspected -- a normal Vampire couple, not paid assassins. Besides, why would paid assassins have saved his life? He was about to enter and warn them about the approaching wolves, but Bastian’s comment made him hesitate. If both species promote understanding, there’s nothing we can’t do together. The Vampire made a very good point. Though he was willing to fight for his beliefs, a good leader needed to use diplomacy as well. He hadn’t expected to even like these Vampires, let alone learn something from them. Maybe that meant Vampires could learn from him, too. Before he could ponder any further, a crash from the foyer sent everyone into an uproar. He growled and Floris gave a shout of surprise. Marci quickly changed to his wolf form. Though he remained bipedal, his facial features elongated and he sprouted claws and a thick reddish pelt from head to toe. Rage and a hint of fear shot through him. No doubt these wolves were tracking him. He had no weapon, save his teeth and claws. In an honorable battle that would be more than enough, but assassins weren’t honorable. He had the scars to prove it. And what about Floris and Bastian? They were in as much danger as he was. They’d helped him.

They’d saved his life and shared their home, their food and their bed. No matter what, he would defend them against these cowards who called themselves wolves. In the corridor he met two tall wolves, one with a dark brown pelt, the other black. Their amber eyes gleamed in the darkness and their menacing growls mingled with his. They aimed their guns, but only the brown wolf’s bullet flew. The black wolf yelped with pain and staggered against the wall, blood matting his hairy chest. Marci had also been hit, though the bullet only grazed his shoulder since he had leapt into the kitchen. There was another shot and he panicked, thinking either Floris or Bastian had been hit. He bounded into the hall only to find the brown wolf also sprawled on the floor. Bastian approached, a gun in his hand. “That one should still be alive,” the Vampire said, nodding toward the brown wolf. “Maybe you can get some info out of him. Floris! It’s all right, love.” She stepped into the hall and wrinkled her nose. “There’s blood everywhere.” “I didn’t think a Vampire would mind that,” Marci commented. “I like it in my mouth. Not on my carpets,” she said, then glanced from the assassins to Marci. “Oh no! You’re hurt!” She stepped closer to inspect his injury, but he gently grasped her wrists. “I’m fine. It’s not serious.” Floris stared into his wolfish face and said, “There’s no way I’ll ever think all you wolves look the same in beast form again. Hon, they are ugglly!” Marci smiled slightly then stepped away from her. He knelt beside the brown wolf and shook him. “Who are you working for?” The creature bared his teeth and refused to speak. Bastian squatted close by and said, “Marci, hold him down.” His eyes narrowed in curiosity, Marci did as ordered. Bastian squeezed the assassin’s badly bleeding shoulder wound. He growled in pain. Curling her lip, Floris said, “And you call yourself a doctor?”

Bastian ignored her and continued his gruesome task. Finally, the assassin gasped, “Lemar Rainy.” “What a shock,” Marci muttered under his breath. “I’ll tend this guy’s injury,” Bastian said. “Then we’ll have to risk driving to town.” “I agree,” Marci said. “If these wolves don’t report back, no doubt others will be sent to look for them. I’m sorry about putting you two in danger.” “It’s not your fault,” Floris said. “Besides, helping you means getting Lemar out of power,” Bastian added. “I hate the thought of a wolf like that being in control of a pack that borders our tribe’s territory.”
*** After Bastian tended Marci and the assassin, they secured their prisoner in the back of the car and put the body of his dead companion in the trunk. Then they made the treacherous drive to the town square. Luckily the hail had stopped, but the roads were still icy. They arrived just in time for another storm to start, but at least they were able to explain the situation to the local authorities. By then it was almost sunrise. All communication lines were down, but the sheriff had a radio and he used it to call for assistance from the tribal guard but was told they wouldn’t be able to make it into town until early evening. Floris, Bastian, and Marci checked into the only inn located in the town square. The room had two big beds, though not large enough for one to comfortably accommodate all three. Still, Floris thought with a lustful grin, they could stand being cramped for a little while. “The way you handled the situation back at the cottage was… impressive,” Marci told Bastian. “I was just doing what I had to do.” “I know what that’s like.” Marci held the Vampire’s gaze.

A moment of deep understanding seemed to pass between them and Bastian nodded, “I know you do.” “I don’t know about you guys, but I’m too anxious to sleep,” Floris said. “After everything that’s happened, I don’t know if I’ll ever relax again.” “We can help you with that,” Marci said, a roguish look in his eyes. “No doubt.” Bastian took her chin in his hand and kissed her. “I’ll change back to my man form and --” “No.” Floris stepped closer to Marci and placed a hand on his chest. She curled her fingers in his pelt. Until meeting him, she’d never realized how sexy a werewolf could be in his beast form. Marci gave a low growl of pleasure. She and Bastian quickly shed their clothes, then she lay on the bed and drew a sharp breath of anticipation when Bastian grasped her arms and positioned her so that he could kneel behind her and pin her wrists beside her head. He bent and traced the shape of her lips with his tongue. She reached out with her tongue and they playfully tasted and fenced with each other. The wolf climbed over her. Bracing his weight on his hands and knees, he licked her from throat to navel with his soft, wet tongue. Floris closed her eyes and enjoyed the attention from both men. Now this was her idea of a vacation. Bastian bent even lower and thrust his tongue into her mouth. Their fangs touched and he groaned, releasing her wrists so he could fondle her breasts as he kissed her. Marci’s wolfish hands slid beneath her buttocks and she draped her legs over his shoulders while he lapped her clit. His lips and tongue teased her, driving her to the edge of orgasm then pausing before she slipped into bliss. While he played his carnal game, Bastian’s long, slender fingers rolled and pinched her nipples. He tugged them gently, then cupped her breasts and kneaded them. At the same time, he continued devouring her with deep, tender kisses.

At almost the same moment Marci lapped her to ecstasy, Bastian sank his fangs into her lip and drank her blood. The orgasm that struck her was so intense that if the men hadn’t held her, she might have writhed off the bed. When it ended, she lay, completely sated, not even bothering to open her eyes as Bastian settled beside her and pulled her into his arms. Marci lay beside them, his hair-roughened leg draped over both Vampires. Finally the wolf kissed them both then rolled out of the bed and stretched out on the empty one. “You didn’t have to leave,” Floris said. “It’s more comfortable for all of us.” Marci yawned. “See you in the morning.” “Good night,” Bastian lifted his head and glanced at Marci. They exchanged smiles before the Vampires cuddled close and drifted to sleep.
*** When Floris awoke the next evening, Marci was nowhere to be found, but he had left a note. “Bastian, wake up!” She shook her husband who jumped awake. “What’s wrong?” “Marci is gone. He must have left just after we fell sleep. Look.” She handed him the note. “I bet he traveled to the Wingedpaw pack by foot. Idiot!” Bastian shook his head. “That’s an almost impossible hike, even for a wolf like him. We need to look for him.” “But we can’t follow him through the woods! And how are we going to explain this to the tribal guard when they get here?” He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “Let me wash up and get dressed. Then we’ll figure out what to do.” A short time later, they stepped into the lobby of the inn. “Good evening,” said the Vampiress who owned the place. She stood behind the front desk, a smile on her face. She tucked a lock of dark blond hair behind her ear and added, “Communications are back up.”

“That’s great,” Floris said. “You didn’t hear the newscast this morning by any chance?” Bastian asked, wondering if news about last night’s attack had somehow leaked out. It seemed impossible in such a small town, but it didn’t hurt to check. “Oh yes. Road 52 will probably be opening up later tonight. Oh! And that missing pack leader, Marci Rainy, who was presumed dead turned up early this evening. He’s with the Wingedpaws and guess what? An assassination attempt was made on his life by his cousin who had taken charge of the pack. The cousin has fled and Marci has already returned to his pack.” Floris and Bastian exchanged relieved looks. “Thank goodness,” she breathed. “Speaking of wolves, what happened to the one who checked in with you last night? He actually looked a bit like Marci Rainy, but who can tell exactly when they’re in wolf form?” “Oh, you can tell,” Floris stated. “All you have to do is open your Vampiric eyes.” Later that night, after being questioned again by tribal guards, Bastian and Floris had just returned to their room at the inn when the owner called from the front desk. “He’s here to see you!” she squealed. “Imagine, a pack leader here at my inn!” “What?” Floris asked. “Marci Rainy is here in the lobby and he’s asking to see you and your husband!” “We’ll be right down.” She smiled and hung up, turning to Bastian. “Marci is here. Let’s go.” They hurried to the lobby where the innkeeper and several guests had assembled, staring at Marci who stood with two hulking wolf guards in their beast form. Marci had opted to keep his man form. He wore snug black trousers and boots and a gray sweater that reflected his eyes. Though he appeared tired, he was undeniably handsome and it was so good to see him again. He greeted the Vampires with a smile and warm embraces.

“We were worried about you,” Floris said. “I’m sorry for leaving the way I did, but I felt it was the safest way for everyone involved.” He glanced over his shoulder toward the eavesdroppers, then turned back to his lovers. “Do you mind if we go to your room and talk?” “Of course not,” Bastian said. “Wait for me here, please,” Marci said to his guards before following the Vampires upstairs. In their room, the lovers once again exchanged embraces and this time deep, tender kisses. “You look exhausted,” Floris said to Marci, caressing his cheek. He grinned. “Well a trek through the icy woods and trying to explain my situation a dozen times over to Temple’s people as well as my own causes a little wear and tear on a guy.” “What are you doing back here?” Bastian asked. “I wanted to explain to your tribal guard the part you played in helping me. I didn’t want you to have any unnecessary trouble regarding the assassins.” “Thank you,” Floris said. “But you should have gotten some sleep first.” “Later. There’s something else I want to ask. I know you’re on vacation and have your own plans, but I was wondering if you’d like to spend some time with me in my pack’s territory? I thought we might… continue our cultural exchange?” Floris and Bastian smiled. “It would be our honor,” Bastian replied. Marci grinned and kissed them again. “I think we can learn a lot from each other.” “I think we already have,” Floris said, snuggling between her lovers. “By the way, happy birthday,” Bastian told her. “It’s your birthday?” Marci asked. “The happiest one I’ve ever had.”
